As a lifeguard, you must possess the following skills:
Comfort in and around open water with basic knowledge of safety considerations
Proficiency in deep water with the ability to use watercraft like surfboards, paddleboards, or kayaks
Ability to pass the lifeguard prerequisite exam, which includes a 550-meter open water swim and treading water without hands for 2 minutes
Experience working with or teaching children is a plus
Red Cross Certification or WSI certification is preferred but not required
Must be at least 18 years old
