As a lifeguard, you must possess the following skills:
Comfortable in and around open water with basic safety knowledge
Proficient in deep water with the ability to use watercraft like a surfboard, paddleboard, or kayak
Ability to pass the lifeguard prerequisite exam (550-meter open water swim, 2-minute tread water without hands, etc.)
Preferably experienced in working with or teaching children
Red Cross Certification or WSI certification preferred but not required
Must be 18 years or older
