As a lifeguard, you must possess the following skills:
Comfortable in and around open water with knowledge of safety considerations
Comfortable in deep water and basic ability to use watercraft like surfboards, paddleboards, and kayaks
Able to pass lifeguard prerequisite exam which includes a 550-meter open water swim and treading water for 2 minutes without hands
Previous experience working with or teaching children is preferred
Red Cross or WSI certification is a plus but not required
Must be 18 years of age
