As a lifeguard, you must possess the following skills:
Comfortable in and around open water with a basic understanding of safety precautions
Ability to navigate deep water and use watercraft such as a surfboard, paddleboard, or kayak
Able to pass the lifeguard prerequisite exam, including a 550-meter open water swim and treading water without hands for 2 minutes
Previous experience working with or teaching children will be beneficial
Red Cross Certification or WSI certification is preferred but not required
Must be 18 years of age or older
