As a lifeguard, you must possess the following skills:
Comfortable in and around open water with basic knowledge of safety considerations
Proficient in deep water with basic skills in using watercraft (surfboard, paddleboard, kayak)
Ability to pass lifeguard prerequisite exam, including a 550-meter open water swim and treading water without hands for 2 minutes
Experience working with or teaching children is preferred
Red Cross Certification or WSI certification is preferred but not required
Must be 18 years of age or older
