I paid ahead for the unit I reserved online & was given an email stating that I would get notice either by email/txt ahead of my move in date (which was the very next business day) with the gate access code info. I gave them until almost the end of closing time on the following day to notify me. But, had to zip over to catch the office before they closed for the day @6p…which ended up being my worst case scenario situation. I was moving out of another public storage unit at different location & wanted to leave it before final access time @ new location (9p). However, my plans got cut short & interrupted my whole ideal plan of cleaning out old unit (until 8pm) just to catch the office to get my new access code so that I could unload all my belongings into the new unit (instead of keeping in my vehicle overnight). Those extra couple hrs would have been so much nicer to have for cleaning out/moving rest of my stuff from old location. Instead, I left few random empty boxes/plastic bags that couldn’t fit with an apology note saying I’m so sorry for leaving in such a rush, a bit untidy, but have to catch new PS location before they close for the day since I never got my new access code itinerary messaged to me yet?? Not really cool, especially, since I was told specifically, otherwise, & to expect msg prior to tomorrow’s move-in date? I would think it’d be more organized & pretty straight forward (esp if msgs were automated depending on new customer registration completion), kind of defeated the whole “no contact, gain direct access into unit same day of move-in” pitch sale lines they fed in my reservation notice. I have never experienced any issues like this before when dealing with PS, so never expected having to bother with stepping into office on 1st day. I like being able to focus on the moving stress alone & meeting the office at another time to deal with insurance stuff. I usually need all the time to pack & unload in the allotted time I have. It was unfortunate.
