Infant Toddler Teacher
Job Description
Keystone STARS childcare centers located in West and South West Philadelphia have immediate openings for Infant, Toddler, Preschool, and School Age Teachers. Lead Teacher candidate must have an Associates Degree in ECE or currently enrolled in a AA/BA program in ECE or a Child Development Associate (CDA). Assistant Teacher candidate must have their CDA (Child Development Associate) or currently enrolled in a CDA program. Experience working with children is preferred.
Overview:
Develop and maintain a classroom program that meets the social/emotional,
physical, cognitive and language needs of both the individual child and the group
Key Responsibilities include:
Develop and implement lesson plans weekly based on PA Early Learning Standards; encourage classroom staff to contribute to the planning process
Prepare and maintain a classroom environment that is safe, clean and inviting
Observe and assess children’s development, documenting learning through use of written notes, C2L-approved assessment tools and a portfolio system
Use observations and assessments to inform planning and provide a basis for parent-teacher conferences
Supervise, train and evaluate classroom staff, including volunteers
Establish and maintain positive lines of communication with families through daily informal exchanges as well as through newsletters and calendars
Share information with families about their child’s development and learning [forms of communication may include daily notes, phone calls, home visits and conferences]
Practice confidentiality in all matters related to the staff and families, as well as proprietary information regarding the operation of the center.
Work with Director to ensure classroom is appropriately staffed at all times.
Exercise waste control in the utilization of resources. If needed, develop and implement a plan for improvement.
Maintain a positive working relationship with co-workers, demonstrating professionalism, flexibility and teamwork
Meet professional development goals annually required by the center’s current Keystone Star level
Interact with the children and encourage their participation in activities
Use appropriate and positive behavior management methods, emphasizing problem-solving skills and mediating conflict resolution
Maintain all classroom records and files
Attend staff meetings, Back to School Night, in-service days, and monthly parent meetings
Inform Director of classroom needs [materials & equipment] in a timely way
Supervise and ensure the safety of all the children at all times
Report to Director or appropriate authority any suspected child abuse or neglect
Adhere to the center’s policies and procedures as set forth in the C2L Policy Manual
Follow DPW regulations and NAEYC Code of Ethics
Support the mission of Care to Learn Child Development Center
Other duties as necessary and assigned.
