As a lifeguard, you must possess the following skills:
Comfort in and around open water with basic safety knowledge
Comfort in deep water with proficiency in using watercraft like surfboards, paddleboards, and kayaks
Ability to pass lifeguard prerequisite exam (550-meter open water swim, 2-minute tread without hands, etc.)
Previous experience working with or teaching children is preferred
Red Cross Certification or WSI certification is a plus
Must be 18 years or older
