Dawn to Dusk Child Development Center (CDC) is a licensed childcare facility with the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) for the District of Columbia. Established in 1967, Dawn to Dusk CDC strives to provide High-Quality Early Childhood Education to families in the Ward 8 community. Our two locations offer a developmentally appropriate, culturally diverse learning environment, serving children ages three months to 12 years. One of our two locations has a Non-Traditional program open until midnight, Monday - Friday. We dedicate ourselves to serving the needs of young children through Developmentally Appropriate Practices (DAP) promoting the growth of all children's physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and language skills and problem-solving).
We seek dedicated and creative individuals to Lead our Preschool and Infant Classrooms.
As a Lead teacher, you will:
- Be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and hazard-free environment for all children in the classroom.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with families and colleagues.
- Use Creative Curriculum to design and execute age-appropriate educational programs that are developmentally appropriate.
- Regularly update parents on their child's progress and engage them in the educational process.
- Create and support family engagement activities.
- Familiarity with ITERS (plus)
As a Lead teacher, you must:
- Have an A.A. degree or higher in Early Childhood Development or an A.A. degree or higher with at least 12 credits in Early Childhood. Development
- Have five years of professional teaching experience (preferred) or three years of professional teaching experience (required)
- Be fully vaccinated or willing to obtain vaccination against COVID-19 (required)
- Have an updated health certificate and TB test or willing to obtain
- Drug and alcohol testing - mandatory upon employment
- Pass background and fingerprinting check.
- Have the ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds as needed.
- Commit to furthering your education and training.
- Have CPR Certification (preferred)
- Have a Child Development Certificate (CDA) (preferred)

Compensation: $30.69 - $36.11 per hour
