Break Sports is hiring a remote software engineer to build out our sports & rec operating system.

Break Sports is a mission-driven sports booking platform dedicated to making recreational sports accessible for all. We give players a new way to find free-to-join clubs based on location, skill, level, and interest with the goal of connecting and building communities through sport. 

We are seeking an experienced remote Software Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of web applications - Node, Express, Koa, React, & Next.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain web applications using Node, Express, Koa, React, Next
• Work on a variety of projects, from small bug fixes to large-scale features
• Collaborate with other engineers and designers to implement new features
• Review and improve existing code
• Mentor and train junior engineers
• Ensure performance and scalability of Break The Love's app.
• Advise and direct team on architectural decisions.
• Review pull requests for code quality, performance and security.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of experience as a software engineer
• Experience working with remote teams 
• Strong understanding of javascript libraries and web applications
• Experience with scheduling systems and/or payments a plus
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Able to work core hours of 9am - noon pacific time.
• Great spoken and written English
