Job Summary:
The Housing Stabilization Services (HSS) Housing Coordinator plays a vital role in assisting clients with the acquisition and retention of housing. This position involves guiding clients through the process of planning, locating, and transitioning to suitable homes within the community. The Housing Coordinator also ensures that clients can maintain their housing arrangements in the community effectively. The role encompasses three core areas: Housing Consultation, Housing Transitioning, and Housing Sustaining.
Essential Duties:
Advocacy -
- Engage in advocating for affordable and accessible housing, employment opportunities, and adequate transportation options.
- Possess in-depth knowledge of the Twin Cities area and collaborating counties.
- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of benefits and assistance programs available in Minnesota.
- Foster productive partnerships with property owners and landlords to secure suitable housing for clients.
Education and Experience:
- Possess a GED or High School Diploma.
- Ability to travel to various agencies, businesses, and client homes when required.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including intermediate skills in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Exhibit effective communication skills both written and verbal.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Hold a valid MN Drivers' License (a condition of employment) with an insurable driving record.
- Maintain all necessary trainings, certifications, and requirements as needed for the position.
Language Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to read, write, and comprehend English effectively.
Mathematical Skills:
- Proficiency in basic arithmetic, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability:
- Capable of solving practical problems and handling various concrete variables in situations where standardization is limited.
- Skillful interpretation of written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule-form instructions.
