Job Description
Position Summary:
Phenomenal Minds Daycare Center is seeking a dedicated and organized Assistant Director to support the Director in the daily operations of the center. The ideal candidate will be passionate about early childhood education, possess strong leadership skills, and be committed to maintaining a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for all children. This role involves supporting staff, assisting with administrative tasks, and helping foster strong relationships with families and the community.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Director in managing the daily operations of the daycare center, ensuring compliance with all licensing, health, and safety regulations.
Supervise, support, and mentor teaching staff to maintain high-quality early childhood education and care.
Help coordinate staff schedules, classroom coverage, and time-off requests to ensure proper staffing levels.
Assist in organizing staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.
Support family communication, including giving tours, addressing concerns, and maintaining positive relationships with parents and caregivers.
Oversee classroom activities as needed to maintain a smooth and engaging learning environment.
Monitor child development and assist in maintaining accurate records, including attendance, incident reports, and developmental progress.
Help plan and implement educational programs that align with the center’s mission and early childhood learning goals.
Serve as acting Director in the absence of the Director.
Promote a warm, inclusive, and supportive atmosphere for children, staff, and families.
Qualifications:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field (required).
Previous experience in a childcare or preschool setting, with at least 1-2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
Knowledge of state childcare regulations, licensing standards, and early learning guidelines.
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
A strong commitment to child development, family engagement, and team collaboration.
Work Environment:
Full-time position
Work is performed in a childcare environment with frequent interaction with young children, staff, and families
Some physical activity, including lifting children or materials up to 40 lbs
