Operating Room Travel RN

Shift: Days, Alternating, 1-2 Cay Days Per Week, On-Call

Employment Type: Travel, Float as needed

Position Overview: MLee Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team in Southwest, PA. The OR RN is responsible for sterilizing surgical tools, preparing the operating room, assisting team members with sterile attire, and preparing the incision site. After surgery, the RN bandages wounds, transports the patient to recovery, and continues care until transfer or discharge. Cardiovascular OR nurses typically work in surgery centers, hospitals, clinics, and private offices. The high-pressure environment requires quick thinking and calmness in crises. Responsibilities include monitoring patient vitals, educating patients and families, preparing reports, conducting cardiovascular tests, and adjusting equipment as needed. Compassion and tact are essential when dealing with anxious patients or grieving families.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative nursing care in accordance with established surgical protocols, physician orders, and hospital policies.
  • Collaborate closely with Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, Surgical Technologists, and other healthcare team members to ensure safe and efficient patient care during surgical procedures.
  • Maintain a sterile and organized surgical environment, adhering to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
  • Prepare surgical equipment, instruments, and supplies required for each procedure, ensuring availability and readiness.
  • Assess patient conditions, monitor vital signs, administer medications, and provide patient education and support throughout the surgical experience.
  • Document patient care activities, including preoperative assessments, intraoperative care details, and postoperative outcomes accurately and timely.
  • Participate in surgical team debriefings and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and surgical outcomes.
  • Provide supervision, guidance, and support to perioperative personnel, including Surgical Technologists and support staff.
Qualifications:
  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Must have Level 1 Trauma experience
  • Must have previous CVOR experience.
  • 2 yrs experience in Open Heart OR
  • Epic experience required.
  • BLS, ACLS & PALS certifications required.
