Personal Statement

Maja’s tennis journey began in Croatia, guided by her first coach—her dad. After winning numerous tournaments, she started her professional junior career internationally, supported by a dedicated team of coaches and family. Her tennis journey taught her key values: humbleness, dedication, patience, and positivity. Traveling the world, she built lifelong friendships across diverse cultures. An injury paused her professional career, but she seized an opportunity at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). Maja became the SCAD Women’s Tennis Team Captain and led them to a National Championship in 2012. Later, as SCAD’s Assistant Head Coach, she guided the team to numerous victories while completing her Master’s in Architecture. With 15 years of coaching experience, Maja now inspires local communities. Her lessons focus on the love of the game, combining patience, competitiveness, hard work, and fun to help students reach their full potential. “Tennis shoes laced up – see you soon on the court!” – Coach Maja
