Microbiologia e immunologia

About this Course

The combined Microbiology and Immunology course has the dual aim of illustrating, on the one hand, the basic concept of microbe cell structure, especially the biochemistry, physiology and morphology of prokaryotes and other human pathogens, and, on the other, the physiopathology of infections caused by pathogens and their phenotypes and genotypes. There is a special focus on their relevance to human health and the well-being of the planet. The Immunology module of this joint course aims to provide learners with a basic understanding of the role immunology plays in combatting infection. It will explore the differences between innate and adaptive immune response at the molecular and cellular level, and the diverse mechanisms used by the immune system to fight infection. Learners will also study the main laboratory techniques used in immunology.
