The Life Skills Preschool is a special needs program servicing students throughout New York City. Our mission is to provide structure and support for children to develop to their full potential, respect the diversity and unique contributions of all, offer instruction that is individualized and developmentally appropriate, promote a child-centered, safe and supportive environment, engage parents, the community and school members in a collaborative team-approach, and to inspire a lifetime to learning.
We are seeking a Full-time Special Education Teacher for a preschool class. NYS Teacher Certification preferred however well qualified candidates enrolled in an accredited Masters program in Early Childhood can also apply. Study plans welcomed!. We can assist you in attaining a NYS Teacher Certification and provide tuition assistance/reimbursement as well as a sign on bonus!
Duties include:
- · Effectively communicates with parents and guardians.
- · Differentiates and implements the Creative Curriculum to meet the required NY State standards.
- · Development and implementation of student Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- · Address student’s challenging behaviors and academic needs within the classroom.
- · Participates in IEP meetings, team meetings, and case conferences. Maintain records.
- · Supervise all classroom practices - room arrangement, lesson plans, daily schedules, routines, and transitions to assure their adherence to program policies.
- · Participate in professional development opportunities, including workshops and conferences, to bring new and emerging best practices into the program.
- Maintains an environment with quality Supervision
- · Educate preschool students using differentiated methods of instruction
- · Improve students levels of independence to enable them to maximize their overall potential
- · Improve social / emotional skills and interactions for personal growth and development
- · Teach academic, daily living, personal/social, and occupational skills into integrated lessons designed to help students learn to function independently in society
- · Complete necessary paperwork on a daily, weekly and monthly basis (attendance, quarterly and annual reports)
