Pros: You learn a lot about African American culture and the history of the literature. Carrington is very smart and interested in his students actively participating and learning.
Cons: The workload is very heavy and the material can be incredibly hard to understand and read.
You must be willing to work very hard in this class to get a good grade. He will work with you on your essays if you need help. Sometimes it's hard to stay awake in his lectures though.

Pros: class is easy if you do the readings
helpful if you ask about assignments
readings are interesting
Cons: lecture is pretty boring
paper topics are hard to research
as long as you somewhat keep up with the readings you should be fine. The papers are pretty tough but he gives you plenty of resources to complete them. If you take notes from lecture and relate them to your paper, you should be able to get an A.

The class has potential to be interesting, but his lectures make it unbearable and boring. He takes attendance, so you will end up dreading going to class because you have no other choice. He also doesn't seem very approachable. Avoid him if you can and thank me later.
