As a lifeguard, you must possess the following skills:
Comfort around open water with knowledge of safety precautions
Proficiency in deep water and ability to use watercraft such as surfboards, paddleboards, and kayaks
Successful completion of lifeguard prerequisite exam (550-meter open water swim, 2-minute tread water without hands, etc.)
Experience working with or teaching children is a plus
Red Cross or WSI certification preferred but not required
Must be at least 18 years old
