As a lifeguard, you must possess the following skills:
Comfortable in and around open water with knowledge of safety considerations
Comfortable in deep water and able to use watercraft like surfboards and kayaks
Ability to pass lifeguard prerequisite exam, including open water swim and treading water

Red Cross or WSI certification is a plus
