About this Course

Welcome to the Law, Governance, and Public Policy course! This foundational course introduces you to the concepts of democracy, governance, state, and the law and their relationships with public policy. By the end of this course, you will acquaint with various processes and institutions involved in framing and enforcing the law and implementing public policies. The course begins with discussing the links between the state, democracy, and public policy. Further, it explores different theoretical approaches to study governance and the history of governance reforms in some democratic countries. You will also examine the relationships between law, morality, justice, and the interactions between law and governance processes. Finally, you will explore how and in what manner laws shape the formulation and implementation of policies and how the institutional context, national and international, facilitates that process.
