Personal Statement

Will Richards is a versatile percussionist with a career spanning orchestras, jazz, musical theater, Latin music, contemporary classical music, rock, pop, and more. He has performed in multiple productions on Broadway, including The Lion King and A Beautiful Noise, at Carnegie Hall, with the National Tour of On Your Feet! (the Gloria and Emilio Estefan Musical), with the 2022 Texas Festival Orchestra at Round Top, and he won second place at the 2022 Modern Snare Drum Competition. Will is an alumnus of the Manhattan School of Music, where he received a Presidential Scholarship. His teachers included Christopher Lamb (Principal Percussion, New York Philharmonic), Duncan Patton (Principal Timpani, Metropolitan Opera), Kyle Zerna (Percussion/Timpani, New York Philharmonic), She-e Wu (Percussion Soloist), Rolando Morales-Matos (Percussion, Lion King on Broadway), Wilson Torres (Percussion, MJ on Broadway), Michael Folker (Percussion, Chicago Philharmonic), James Ross (Percussion, Chicago Symphony), and Jeremy Smith (World Percussionist).
