Personal Statement

I am Selin Algoz, a dedicated violinist and chamber musician currently pursuing my Master’s Degree in violin performance at the Manhattan School of Music under the guidance of Professor Lucie Robert. I have been immersed in the world of classical violin since my early childhood and have been sharing my passion through private violin lessons, catering to students at various skill levels from beginners to professionals. Throughout my musical journey, I actively engaged in national and international festivals, collaborating with renowned violinists like Itzhak Rashkovsky, Alexander Markov, Minco Minchev, Andrej Bielow, Lutsia Ibragimova, Mischa Nodelmann, and Liviu Prunaru. My dedication and success in local music competitions led me to join the National Philharmonia Orchestra, allowing me to tour Europe and perform in prestigious venues such as Konzerthaus in Berlin, Sala Santa Cecilia in Rome, and Smetana Hall in Prague. My extensive musical studies have exposed me to a diverse violin repertoire, spanning from classical masterpieces to contemporary works by 20th and 21st-century composers. In addition to my solo pursuits, I am an experienced chamber musician, having collaborated with various groups. During my Bachelor's degree, I worked closely with all members of the American Quartet. I offer a comprehensive and inspiring music education tailored to each student's unique interests. I am deeply passionate about guiding students in developing and nurturing their artistic talents. I firmly believe in fostering a sense of enjoyment and love for music during lessons, cultivating a commitment to lifelong musical studies. My teaching philosophy emphasizes not only the joy of music and technical violin skills but also instills essential life skills such as focus, diligence, patience, memory mastery, and self-expression in my students. My warm and friendly personality, coupled with a vast musical background, enables me to help students learn and enjoy playing any pieces they aspire to master. I am committed to inspiring confidence, establishing legitimacy, and ensuring a professional and enriching learning experience for my students.
