Personal Statement

Growing up in Northern California, I spent much of my childhood outside in nature. As I fell in love with music, I’ve tried to take the inspiration I find in the natural world and put it into my playing and teaching. I first started trumpet in third grade, and quickly picked up the trombone, euphonium/baritone, and French horn too—I clearly couldn’t get enough of brass instruments! Music has taken me all over the world, from China to Germany to London and across the US. My current home for the past four years has been at Juilliard in New York City, where I will soon be graduating with a Bachelor’s and pursuing a Master’s degree in Classical Trumpet.
