Title: Resident Advisor (part-time and on-call positions available)

Compensation: $15.71-17/hour, overtime eligible; pay differential for holidays and pay differential for agency observed holidays and declared inclement weather

Shifts/Schedule: Monday-Sunday, 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, 11pm-7am (pending availability)

Position Summary:

Lutheran Settlement House (LSH) is a non-profit, community-based organization committed to serving children, adults, and families living in Philadelphia. Within our Jane Addams Place program, a shelter for families experiencing temporary homelessness, we are seeking compassionate and experienced individuals to join our dynamic Resident Advisor team. Resident Advisors are responsible for the direct support of our residents, ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment, and ensuring smooth daily operations for our program and residents.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Monitor front reception desk; including signing residents in/out, buzzing door for entry, receiving packages and mail, checking bags for residents and visitors, etc.;
  • Monitor the dining area during mealtime, complete meal attendance form, distribute snacks to all residents;
  • Conduct hourly rounds through facility to ensure safety and order;
  • Work effectively with shift partner and other staff to share responsibilities, provide mutual support, and establish healthy working relationships with all team members;
  • Support programs in the facility; provide written case notes on shift activity, programs, and clients interactions;
  • Attend RA staff meetings and complete all professional development trainings and trauma informed trainings;
  • Other related duties needed to further the mission, vision, and values of the program and agency-at-large.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Certificate preferred but not required.
  • Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and an ability to diffuse challenging situations.
  • Strong time-management skills a must; this role requires arriving on-time for each shift.
  • Ability to multi-task and provide excellent customer service to clients.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and boundaries within the shelter and when interfacing with clients.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be a pro-active problem solver and dedicated to the mission of the organization.
  • Must have knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office suite programs such as Word and Outlook.
  • Previous residential experience a plus.
