Knows the subject well
Cons: Knows the subject almost too well, assumes we understand more than we really do
Still uses overhead projector
Gives a lot of conceptual background to material
Cons: Tends to jump around a lot (so be vigilant during lectures and have quick writing skills)
Accent can be a little difficult to understand if you aren't used to it, but its fairly easy to pick up.
Overall, my experiences with Professor Tyagi in PHYS 101 and 102 have been positive and has perked my interest in physics a little more. Go to office hours if you need help with something and you will learn a lot.
I initially took Steinberg (an extravagant a***hole) and had to withdraw.
Dr. Tyagi's lecture notes is all you need for the exam. He goes into depth on the same topic during lecture, which should give you insight on what to expect for the midterm
The Tipler book sucks and you do not need to follow it religiously. Just go to lecture.
Cons: Exams are hard and he cannot teach well.
Do not take him for any physics class
Cons: Sapling learn
Hard to read handwriting
I sat in on som tyagis physics lectures instead of going to my actual lecture. He was so much better than my other professor and explains the physics problems and says what types of problems will be on the final
Cons: Can't understand what he is saying
Gets off topic and kills valuable class time
Very hard to get a decent grade
Horrible class. Don't take him as a professor you will regret it. I aced physics classes I took before this one, and this one was so bad that I decided to drop it and take it at my local community college.
Cons: none
Cool guy too
Cons: Goes off on a lot of tangents.
Som is a good teacher. I took phys 101 with maricic and got a B. I took phys 102 with som and got almost a 100 in the class. You do the math.
Cons: all the lecturers suck and recitation is teh only decent thing in the course
Cons: His voice puts me to sleep
Funny.
Cons: He doesn't use a mic, so sit in the front of the room.
If I can get him as a professor, I would. He's very helpful and entertaining. He has a slight accent, but it's not that hard to deal with.
Cons: everything
Impossible to understand, does not like to explain things, gets an attitude when you ask questions.
Cons: Terrible at explaining concepts and tends to jump around a lot-- super hard to follow.
Cons: Goes too Fast
Accent
Cons: is sort of boring in lecture
