So good I took him twice! seriously, although some things sucked, he did a lot of things right. He knows how to use the online medium really well, except for his ppt presentations which i gather were more helpful if you attended the live class. The workloads were high, but he was fair, and made it fun as possible. I liked the fact that INFO 608 was all his own material, no textbook to collect dust afterwards. He is also very involved in the classes, and will work with you to give you direct feedback
I heard he has left Drex as of Summer 06. It figures...a shame for IST.

This was an online course. Professor O knows the subject matter, and is helpful. Course work was above average in terms of workload compared to most other classes, mainly due to the group project. Online participation is expected, and failure to follow through can result in poor marks for lack of participation.
My sole complaint (and it's minor) is that the required text was not required (he recommended sending it back). I kept it and I was glad I did -- it was helpful on the group project. Instead of using the text for readings, he provided his own selections for readings. The readings were not in a coherent progression, and some were a bit estoteric (though applicable, once you wade through them).

I had Prof. Overmyer for 2 online courses, which make it difficult to assess the instructor's personality... but I thought he made the courses as interesting as possible, provided good feedback, and was a fair grader. I was happy to have gotten into a second course with him.

He is a subject matter expert, very professional and knowledgeable. Students who are insecure and/or looking for an easy course might complain about this instructor. The instructor often uses the Socratic method and makes you think. He is a great teacher and his lessons stay with you long after the course, a truly educational experience.
