Really great class to take, especially if you need to fill an arts elective. I'm familiar with a lot of the music he talks about but he gives you additional facts about artists and songs that make the class really interesting. There are 2 exams and the final, which is cumulative. Other than going to 3 concerts and writing a 1 page paper about it, there is no homework for this class. Definitely take it!
Professor Bacon is a great professor and an easy grader. His class is so easy, if you don't get an A in rock music, there is something else wrong with you. You can miss up to 4 classes without being penalized, but going to class pretty much guarantees you get an A in the class. Skipping rock music class is stupid, all you do is listen to songs and watch movies. This is a very easy 3 credit course.
Explains history as a story so it's very entertaining
Awesome sense of humor
Attend class, get an A+.
Provides music, movies, and videos to watch during class
Exams are straight from the lecture, and not from the textbook
Allows students to put their own comment in
3 concert reports and three exams
lectures are awesome
has audio and video presentations in class
Note: Make sure you write down all of the songs that he plays in class along with the artists - I didn't and there were about 20 questions on his final exam that involved pure matching of song names with artists.
