Super easy exam, just memorize the book.
If you dont get an A+ in this class, Chemistry is not for you, in fact, College is not for you.
2 Midterms, you can just not attend the second one if you get a 100 in the 1st midterm. Lab exam is super easy as well.
Elaborate lecture, although I attended only 1 lecture and basically memorized the book. Got the highest grade in the class.
We should have more teachers like her and more 5 credit classes like this to bump up our GPAs in a rough college like Drexel.
The TAs are excellent. Ask them to help you.
Provides back exams and almost 30% of the questions are repeated.
I heard she was funny, but cant give you feedback on that coz i never attended lecture. You should though, because the lecture might help you understand the material.
Cons: No emails/ electronic services i.e. No grades posted online, you just see the final letter grade. So ask the TAs.
She passed. :(
Cons: You don't actually learn chemistry.
She is the only one that teaches the course...so good luck!
Cons: Completely insane. Difficult to follow. Tests are ridiculous and don't seem to relate to anything she talks about. Goes off on tangents that take up most of the class. Such a waste of time. I would not recommend this professor to anyone.
She can be funny sometimes during lecture.
Ends class early sometimes.
Cons: Bad teacher.
Can't email or call or ask questions in lecture.
Curves enough to make sure that the lowest grade that anyone will receive in the course is a C
Cons: She us unapproachable and you can never email her during the quarter: face-to-face contact only
Her lectures are constantly off topic
She does not prep students for exams and that makes them hard to prepare for - exams are a bit on the difficult side and they are half written/half multiple choice
She is lazy
Pretends like she cares about her students, but she doesn't
Cons: A witch! Doesn't teach shit in lectures!
Don't go to lectures. Just go to recitations and read the text book, and you should be fine on exams.
-recitation TA's were very helpful
-most exam material is taken from previous exams
Cons: -lecture is completely disorganized
-lab is annoying sometimes
-book is written by her
Doesn't give C-
Lets you out at least 10 minutes early
Funny
Does live demonstrations/experiments
Doesn't require participation grade in recitation or anything (knows this is College not High School)
Cons: Tests are kinda hard
No e-mails
No questions during lectures (must ask after)
No excuses
A lot of people complain about Dr. Soloman, but honestly I failed the first test, did the practice tests for the next two and ended up with an A in her class. Just copy down everything she says, go to recitation, turn in your labs, and do practice tests. She's very funny and down to earth. Live demonstrations are cool too.
- very funny
- does LIVE experiments
Cons: - talks very fast
- hard class
- talks softly
Overall, I would give her a 10/10. Solomon is very good, very knowledgeable, and is the only teacher who still does LIVE demonstrations, which is a plus. Take her as your teacher.
Cons: Sometimes it's hard to follow her, so it's best to read the book on your on.
Make sure you attend recitation sessions, especially if you get a good TA. They can really help you understand the material and boost your test score.
Cons: Can't email her or call her.
Grades very easily with large curves. Will do everything in her power not to give someone anything lower than a C.
Cons: Its a 5.0 credit course so if you take it lightly it can hinder you GPA.
Prof. Solomon has this no excuse no email (till after the course policy) so DO NOT complain to her. She can and will give you a rude response.
Cons: She REALLY doesn't care, do not ask her questions she will yell.
You best be teaching yourself the material because the most you'll learn from her is how to make bombs, meth, and calm down from an acid trip.
Cons: Doesn't take any excuses and not very tactful. Tests are hard to prepare for because of the textbook (which doesn not really help much) and she refuses to use technology. No practice tests. You have to use your connections if you want to prep for tests properly.
Just take it and you'll be ok.
-she is awesome- i would deff hang with her
-she can be seen smoking outside the disque before class which signifies her coolness
-she does really cool experiments
-very easy grader- if you get a 50 in the course you pass
Cons: -if you are going from chem 108 to chem 103 then be scared, it is ridiculously hard and a lot harder than 108
-sally's class can be very boring and she is ridiculously smart but not the best teacher
-chem 103 is very hard
-other than face to face communication, you can not contact her- no e-mails or phone calls
-no website to check grades
-you never will find out your finals grade just your final grade for the class
After getting an A in chem 108 i thought i was golden for 103. I was wrong. It is so hard, my average in the class is a 58 which is considered a C in her eyes. That is good that a 50 is passing even though technically a 72.5 is supposed to be passing for chem, but i am not complaining. I love sally and i would hang out with her outside of class but as a teacher, no thanks.
Cons: It is still almost impossible to get an A
Good old Dr. Solomon...like in 108, a massive grading curve. If you want to learn chemistry...she is not for you. She is great for nursing majors because she understands that chem isn't the most relevant course we are taking. She is a great lady, but as far as teaching goes...not great.
test review
curves grades
Cons: a little weird
sometimes expects you to know more than you do
no past tests given as review
shes a pretty good teacher but you do need to study for her tests
