The syllabus makes no sense. He picks random topics in the news and basis his entire lecture on that. But then includes things in the test that he never talked about and was never in the book. He basically expects you to know politics already even though its an intro class.
Majority of your grade isn't due until the very end of the term. You've got a test (like 3rd week of the quarter...) weekly website critiques, final paper, ppt presentation, and final exam. I would say overall he is a pretty easy grader, but you will not learn much. To pass the tests I basically had to teach myself everything currently going on in our political system just in case it was on there.
If you know politics you'll be fine, but if you are taking this class expecting to learn, you'll be disappointed.
One more complaint: He CONVENIENTLY waited until the last day of class to tell us there was no time left for the teacher evaluations. hmmmm wonder why.....
He is very upfront with everyone and he will joke around a lot. He will call you out and ask you random questions about politics, history, and current events.
He tells some of the most interesting and rememorable stories that make the class good.
Class consists of reading a book, two exams, and a powerpoint presentation.
If you do all the work, read the assigned book and study for the exams you will do fine.
and he was very random and vaguely offensive. a nutjob. also doesnt make sense and way too much work for an intro class
You never know what the homework is and when it is due- and there is a lot every week.
He seamed smart at the begining, but then it turned out that he has no idea about current international politics and thinks that the rest of the world stayed in the 80's.
He was trying to e-mail some assignments, and for some reason a lot of people could not open it. Meaning, you can end up geting your take home final on the day that it is due (and it was a 15page essay).
AVOID HIM
Has no idea what he's talking about. I don's think he's had a clue since the 1970s.
Totally worthless.
fun class and he has strong opinion about what he knows, if you don't go against him, you will get an A.
