Pros: He grades leniently.
Cons: Attendance is graded.
There are pop quizzes.
He basically said that you could plagiarize and probably get away with it because he would only catch it if you used something that he was familiar with or has in his personal library.
He accepted a paper a week and a half late because I was unable to finish it earlier and I got a B on it.
HE WANTS ANALYSIS. He wants new ideas. He wants you to set your paper apart from others'. Who? What? Where? When? Why? How? Make Connections.
If you take his class, remember that if nothing else.
Do not test him about his grading. He will get upset if you are too persistent about a grade that he gave you that you don't agree with.
Participate. Say things in class. Anything, just say something. He rewards participation. He also understands if you're shy, but he really appreciates the effort to put ideas forth in class.

Pros: get a good nap
this man literally thinks every word out of his mouth is pure gold. i love english. i love reading, i love writing. i hated this class and couldn't wait for it to be over. the papers weren't graded too harshly which was probably the only good thing because the amount he expected us to read was ridiculous.

Pros: He tries really hard to make classes interesting, bringing points from his personal life into the class's conversations to get us more involved.
Cons: Jackson's Hoops really was the death knell for his class. It just made it so hard to concentrate and be productive in the class.

Wetherill is the man. I took him for 101, 102, and 103. I don't understand why people would not like him. He is very respectful of his students, the workload is not too bad, and he is a very smart man. He is ALWAYS willing to help, and is very understanding if something arises that causes you to miss a paper. By far, the best English teacher I ever had.

Pros: no class attendance
Cons: everything else
The man is more educated than intelligent. He talks about the same select topics everyday. I have not learned a single thing in his class all semester. His paper topics are so broad and underdeveloped that you find yourself lost when it comes time to actually write it. He pretty much makes up grades and gives you no clear explanation on them. He plays favorites and is clearly biased. I have no idea how this guy is qualified to be a college professor. I agree that his class is a joke. If you never want to go to class and don't care about your grades, then this is the guy for you. If you actually want to receive the education that you paid for, then stay away from him.
This is coming from a 4.0 student so you should probably take my advice

Pain in the ass nit picker! Does not grade fairly- too judgmental of student's analysis because it does not resemble his. Makes himself readily available for meetings but A] you can never get a word B] he repeats everything he has said many many times C] never directly answers questions D] will make critics but then when you get your paper back will have some point that you should of included that he never mentioned to add during the meeting- plus the point you should have added is just his own analysis that he came up with and in no way you could have known to add. Stories assigned are depressing- he loves the death and alcohol abuse theme. When he critics everyones papers, he goes right to what everyone did wrong and does not have any positives to add. Out of a class of ~30, only about seven kids spoke the entire time because he overly judgmental of comments (will often flat out shoot down someones analysis) and will act disinterested while you say it. But on the plus side, he forces you to become really analytical, will let you turn in papers late, and will let you do a rewrites.

Pros: Very easy. If you have questions about your papers, he'll do his best to answer them.
Cons: Not much goes on in class.
You don't really have to speak up in class. If you do, he'll look more favorably upon you, but it's not part of your grade per se. It won't cost you if you spend every class drawing in your notebook, for example.

Teacher only gives you a good grade if you agree with his opinions. Once I made a really deep observation, he ignored me and went on.
He also grades papers as if we are English majors. He expects so much from us.
+ He says he cant give too many A's anymore because he gave so many in the past. So basically, we cant get good grades because he was nice in the past.
He is also very late on all assignments. I gave him a rough draft on Wednesday and next Monday he still hadnt read it.

He's a really easy grader and very flexible with deadlines. Seems airy and unaware of things sometimes too. Also, doesn't force participation.

Awful class. The topics he has us analyze are hot-button topics like death penalty, abortion, the wars, etc, and then has you write papers analyzing and arguing your point of view. He is not an objective grader whatsoever! His leftist beliefs blind him from grading papers objectively. If he doesn't like your POV, he'll write a two paragraph diatribe filled with unsubstantiated claims, railing against it and give a lower grade. I had my former English teacher look at one of my papers, and he said he'd give it an A and didn't understand why Wetherill gave me a B. I had an B+ for the term, but could have had an A if "Professor" Wetherill were more objective and did not let his personal beliefs sway his grading.

He's ok. He expects us all to dialogue to him and analyze stories as if English was our life! He takes off points if when you give your opinion on a paper and it is not the same as his. His communication skills are very poor when it comes to responding to e-mails and he's snobby. I would not take him again unless he was a last resort.

Hes a good guy, his class is pretty boring and hes very politcally biased and will go off on tangents, but if you just let him have his opinion you can simply move on with your life after the 50 minute class. He grades fairly easy and his quizzes are a joke. The only suggestion i would have would be when you write a paper write about something he agrees with, like i said hes very biased and if he agrees with what he reads it will help your grade out alot. overall hes pretty chill

Great guy. Made class interesting by bringing up great topics to debate about. If you talk in class and take interest in the War in Iraq you will do fine. Quizzes are open notes and if you do not like the grade you got on your paper go to his office hours and he will help you rewrite it and get a better grade. He was awesome and so understanding. Very intelligent guy.

Professor Wetherill is the man if you care very little about English and want a nice teacher. He's a total pushover when it comes to class work and getting him off topic on purpose to stray away from doing work. He is an incredibly easy grader, but for papers MAKE SURE you pick a topic HE AGREES WITH, otherwise he will biasly grade your paper and you won't receive as good as a grade as you should. He cared not about attendance and you hardly get any work. Workload overall for my class was 3 easy quizzes, 1 of which he drops, 2 essay papers, and a free write paper where if you do it, you get 100%. I would DEFINATELY take him again, but do to time issues i was unable to :(
