Cons: Attendance is graded.
There are pop quizzes.
He basically said that you could plagiarize and probably get away with it because he would only catch it if you used something that he was familiar with or has in his personal library.
He accepted a paper a week and a half late because I was unable to finish it earlier and I got a B on it.
HE WANTS ANALYSIS. He wants new ideas. He wants you to set your paper apart from others'. Who? What? Where? When? Why? How? Make Connections.
If you take his class, remember that if nothing else.
Do not test him about his grading. He will get upset if you are too persistent about a grade that he gave you that you don't agree with.
Participate. Say things in class. Anything, just say something. He rewards participation. He also understands if you're shy, but he really appreciates the effort to put ideas forth in class.
Cons: 1. No recipe given for meatloaf
this man literally thinks every word out of his mouth is pure gold. i love english. i love reading, i love writing. i hated this class and couldn't wait for it to be over. the papers weren't graded too harshly which was probably the only good thing because the amount he expected us to read was ridiculous.
Cons: kind of boring
He's okay, there are better english teachers, but if you put in the effort you'll be find, suck up to him and you'll be good.
Cons: Jackson's Hoops really was the death knell for his class. It just made it so hard to concentrate and be productive in the class.
Wetherill is my favorite professor so far in my college career.
Cons: everything else
The man is more educated than intelligent. He talks about the same select topics everyday. I have not learned a single thing in his class all semester. His paper topics are so broad and underdeveloped that you find yourself lost when it comes time to actually write it. He pretty much makes up grades and gives you no clear explanation on them. He plays favorites and is clearly biased. I have no idea how this guy is qualified to be a college professor. I agree that his class is a joke. If you never want to go to class and don't care about your grades, then this is the guy for you. If you actually want to receive the education that you paid for, then stay away from him.
This is coming from a 4.0 student so you should probably take my advice
Cons: Not much goes on in class.
You don't really have to speak up in class. If you do, he'll look more favorably upon you, but it's not part of your grade per se. It won't cost you if you spend every class drawing in your notebook, for example.
He also grades papers as if we are English majors. He expects so much from us.
+ He says he cant give too many A's anymore because he gave so many in the past. So basically, we cant get good grades because he was nice in the past.
He is also very late on all assignments. I gave him a rough draft on Wednesday and next Monday he still hadnt read it.
