Personally, I found his project requirements very clear and to the point
Cons: Very unclear with due dates
Ok, so here is an honest review about Professor Forney: he is neither amazing nor if he bad - he is just an average professor.
His remarks are what you make them - they can either be interpreted as rude and arrogant or funny. He is quite sarcastic.
The group projects do make or break your grade and they makeup a big chunk of your grade. Yes, he assigns partners at random (he makes the pairings via bblearn). It is your responsibility to make the partnership work - treat it like a work project: you can't always choose who to work with.
His rambling does get redundant at times, but that is his way of making the class less dry.
The final is week 10.
For a 3 credit class, the workload is a bit much. The fact that he dumps the final project on you 2-3 weeks prior to the end of term can be overwhelming.
The fact that the due dates for various assignments change often is the reason why I wouldn't take him again - way too chaotic and confusing.
Cons: Will screw you over at the last minute (grade wise)
A lot of group work, was partnered with several international students that did not carry their workload, he doesn't care
I had him for Business Communication 270 and got screwed over twice with group work. The first time I was partnered with someone who didn't do any of their work and I did the whole project. When I submitted a partner review, we both got the same grades.
Also, the final project is a final report my group spent two weeks on. He gave us 0/300 effectively dropping my grade from an A to a D. I was able to get it up to a B- through calling him and begging for an increase. However, this isn't my fault because his rubric is unclear and we didn't do everything exactly the way he wanted it done (the document was still very well thought-out). He screwed us over, and he's pretty arrogant. Most of what he teaches does not go on in the workplace.
Good Advice
Knows What he's talking about
Cons: A bit perky for 9 am
I don't know why everyone's drinking the haterade on Forney.
He's really not a bad guy and he really does know what he's talking about.
He has a lot of great advice and he will help you out if you need.
It's really not a tough class if you do your work, and he's not too tough on grading.
I mean its a communication class.. it's not rocket science, but he tries to make it as fun and realistic as possible.
He is a bit perky and loud for 9 am but whatever, you can easily deal with it
Forney's the man of public speaking - he combines humor, vivid examples and practical dialogues in his teaching to give the high class experience you'd carry throughout his life.
He KNOWS what he does and DOES it really well for his students.
Cons: Not really a con, but he DOES expect you to be sincere and NOT use digital devices, cellphones, computers during his lectures, or the door is open for you.
Honestly, it worked towards my advantage - total attention is a general ettiquette and helped me learn a lot from this man!

Pros: 1. THE BEST INSTRUCTOR FOR COM 230!
2. He knows he stuff well and is well prepared.
3. He's an awesome communicator if you pay attention.
Humorous at times - adds a lot to the class by visual aids and vivid examples!
Cons: Not coming from me but people often complain he's rude at times, but, in all honesty, he tells you his class policies on Day 1 of class (no cellphones even in sight, for example) and expects you to follow it.
As long as you're paying full attention and working decently, getting an A is easy!

Comes off as tough but really is nice
Cons: Group work occurs more than once
Awesome professor. While he has some tough assignments he knows the business world very well and teaches you a lot of vital information.
Cons: None
You don't have to read the textbook. Just go to class and listen to his lectures and power-point presentation. There are small projects to do like writing a memo, complaint letter, and letter of introduction. Then the 2 major projects, informal report, and the final formal report. He gives 2 quizzes, ten question each, people should not get less than 2 questions wrong on those. Easy A or B if you put the effort in or not.
Cons: A lot of work for a 3 credit class and group projects can always be frustrating.
Professor Forney is an all around awesome guy and comes from a background with a lot of real work experience.
While teaching my class he still worked for CBS on the weekend and uses ample real work examples in class to connect ideas.
A lot of people complained about the work load in his class but come on people you're in college to learn and do the work. Some of it can be tedious but the things you learn in the class are extremely practical to the real work and your future employment.
Cons: Sometimes he can be rude
He's the sort of teacher where if you don't writer a letter EXACTLY the way he would write it, you don't get a good grade. And, I'm not complaining because I got a bad grade or anything. No, I got an A in the class.
But his attitude really pissed me off. We'd go to class for 3 hours a week and he'd stand in front of the class most of the time just rambling and babbling to himself a bunch of nonsense that has nothing to do with the class.
DON'T BOTHER BUYING THE BOOK. You will not need it. He has 2 quizzes but a bunch of powerpoint presentations that correspond to the book. So just look over that and you should be fine.
There are a series of letters, memos, and papers you will have to write. It's not that hard, but he's going to make a big deal out of it and try and scare you into "taking it seriously".
He yelled at us for this, but he said he read his reviews on DUREVIEW and a lot of students said that he was an easy A. Well, he ranted about how "You dont get As in my class! You're lucky if you get a B!!! blah blah blah". He screamed so loud that people in the hallway were stopping and staring.
His rants are often out of hand so be prepared to just get yelled at. It's not personal (and he says that a lot), but he really just loves to yell because he loves the attention. Also, he's deaf in one year and takes medication for ADHD.
In the end, I still think he's an easy A. I did the bare minimum of work and got my A. As long as you put in some effort and make it sound like you put in a great deal of effort AND you kiss up to him, then you're bound to get an A.
Besides his screaming and egotistical personality, I really hated his timing. We had to write 2 large papers: an instruction manual and a business proposal at the end of the term. The last paper was the final exam and he didn't give us more than a week to work on it. Plus he assigned it during Finals week when no one had anytime to work on it anyways. He also tends to make things due on Sunday nights. So basically, if you're bad at planning your time, you will work all weekend on his stupid projects. And to be honest, the content doesn't matter. He really doesn't care and doesn't know enough about whatever topic you choose. The only thing that matters is the format. After all, that's what the whole class is about. So DONT waste your time researching and making everything is right and legit. You could pull stuff out of your @$$ but list it in bullets and put a few headers--and you'd be fine.
With all the smaller assignments, he usually wants you to turn it in via BBVista, but then he makes you do so many revisions, you don't know if he really has the final "good" version or not. And I bet he doesn't either. He's really disorganized and won't hand things back.
I rated him a 3 out of 10. It's not that I didn't learn anything, but I learned nothing substantial. He was a waste of my time and money. I hope I never have to take another class with him. I can't stand the man.
