Pros: Keeps on course schedule
Super nice guy
Offers lots of office hours - use them
Willing to work with you for a better grade
Cons: Exams are very hard. All essays(even though there are two papers assigned) and a lot of reading.. but it IS an English course.
Treats non-majors as if they are English majors
This is probably because I am not an English major but I personally didn't enjoy the class as much as my peers... It was my English elective and I got through it but it was definitely not my favorite. If you enjoy reading a lots of discussion, this is the class for you. I would not suggest him if you are not an English major.

Yet another member of English faculty who gets relatively unfair ratings from non-majors because, holy crap, a professor expects you to, I don't know, do work?!? How awful.
I'm a bit biased because I'm a major, but Brebach has undoubtedly made me a better student. He emphasizes the importance of revision and really getting into the text. Through his courses you will become a better writer and far more engaged/critical reader. He is funny, incredibly caring, and will put out as much effort as he needs to to meet you halfway, if not more. This being said, there have certainly been times when we've disagreed, and he is relatively set in his ways when it comes to literature. This does not mean, however, that there are not many valuable lessons in his coursework.

Pros: Very bubbly, sarcastic, fun
Cons: He's a little stuck on his own viewpoints, and a little hard to sway to others
Very fun, enjoyed his classes (as an WI elective), the man knows his stuff

great man with very wise knowledge, and witty too. he does have high expectations in students but if you show that you've really worked for it he's gonna give you what you deserve.

Prof. Brebach doesn’t teach 102, but if he did I would definitely take his class. He was a very fair grader, he would allow rewrites, and he would grant extensions if you could show that you had been working. Even though he has tenure, he still puts forth the effort to help any student that is trying. I have become a better writer in his class.

I loved Professor Brebach. I think he is very knowledgeable about the topics he discusses. He always treats students' ideas with respect and always encourages to think deeper. He grades his papers fairly difficultly; however, he always makes time to discuss your paper and help with any questions or writing blocks you may encounter. I know I went to speak with him numerous times about a paper that I just couldn't get passed the opening paragraph and he was always there to help. As long as you keep up with the reading in his class, you really have nothing to worry about. (Ps. The homework was reading - I don't think we had anything else.)

Love this professor. If you make an effort he will help you and respect you. The workload is heavy but you'll learn a lot. It takes a while to get used to his sense of humor but when you do it's a lot of fun!

I absolutely loved his class (Modern British Fiction). Dr. Brebach is extremely knowledgeable and has great class discussions. He is a fair grader. The workload is a bit on the heavy side, but it's absolutely worth it. I'm so glad that he's taking over as Director of the English Program this year!

Quirky guy, it makes class interesting though. Requirements are kind of confusing for his papers.
Exams are graded hard, you have to know every detail from each story read and detail them in the essay answers.
I'm not an English major, would retake, papers are interesting topics, the exams are graded hard (~40% of the grade).

Brebach rules, end of story. The required English classes for freshmen are usually a joke, but I actually learned things and he helped improve my writing alot. He also busts a little on stupid people which is great. I plan on taking many classes with him in the future.

Dr. Brebach is one of the best and most enlightening professors I've had at Drexel. He treats all students fairly and is willing to help you whenever you don't understand something. Take his special topics classes, they are truly a good learning experience.

Dr.B. is great. There's quite a lot of reading, but most of the books are interesting. I didnt even want to sell some of mine back. He admits his limitations and is more than willing to entertain students' opinions. Take him but beware the IAS course is English, not politics

I enjoyed his 212 class, where he really engaged students with the material. I left with an ability with poetry that I haven't had before and am proud to use again. Never thought I'd want to teach poetry and fiction until I took this class. He strikes a good balance between pushing the reader to work and bailing them out when they are too deep. Aside: I think his jokes find a tough crowd in undergrad freshman to sophmore but he probably kills senior level and above. Hella funny.
