Very good at explaining hard concepts,
Really cares that you understand the material,
HW is graded on effort, not correctness,
Almost makes STAT interesting,
Just a nice guy overall
Cons: Can't say one negative thing about him
I was originally supposed to have another professor for STAT-201, and I was pissed when I found out that Oben was gonna be teaching the class (I've had bad past experiences with younger, recently-graduated professors). I was shocked at how good he is at explaining hard concepts and how much effort he puts into making things easier for you to understand. He's honestly one of the best professors I've had at Drexel. I never once had to open up the textbook because his lecture slides are so detailed. There's not that much work, and if you pay attention in class you'll understand enough to do well on the exams. I'd definitely recommend him to anyone taking STAT-201. It's not hard to get an A and you actually learn something if you pay attention.
Lets you make a cheat sheet for the mid term and finals.
Cons: None
He is the best. Professor Ceryan is extremely thorough in is lectures. Though he mentions the usefulness of the textbook, I barely ever had to use it. His lectures were that detailed! He goes over everything he teaches in class twice. The first time is when he is actually teaching the material. He then recaps the lesson in his "Take-aways." This is essentially during the beginning half of the class. Before registering for Stat all my friends said that it was extremely difficult, so I essentially prepared for the worst. But after taking the class with Prof. Ceryan, Stat isn't that difficult. I would definitely recommend taking him if you can! He makes stat easy to understand, and the way he explains it makes logical sense so it is easy to remember and apply.
