Cons: You have to work for the class, but its really worth it and it gives you a way better understanding of organic chemistry
Cons: accent, but you will get accustomed soon.
Go to her lecture! Highly recommend her!
Cons: You MUST study !!! - LOL
unfortunately, Guessing does not work on CHEM 101 exams.
You should go to her lectures. She writes all exams herself and all questions are based on what she was teaching in class. Also, she provides lots of interesting, application - based examples (for example, biological functions of amines, pharmaceutical application of sulfonamides, etc.). If you do not go to her lectures, it will be hard to answer these questions on exams (textbook does not cover this material).
Also, she adds extra points to the final grade for participation in class discussions.
I learned a lot in the course, and got A+.
Cons: NA
Great teacher
Cons: NA
She's great
Cons: Exams are not easy, but I like challenges.
I felt like I learned a lot. Now I love chemistry even more.
2) Will make sure that the things are clear
3) Interactive Power points
4) Fast reply to emails
5) Challenging exams
Cons: Couldn't think of any
I've taken Chem 101 (Lecture, Recitation) this fall and had the most awesome time learning chemistry. Initially I had a hard time coping with lab reports and exams but as the days went on I was able to approach Dr. Ilies with most of doubts and she cleared them all pretty well. She's pretty straight forward (as you can see from the comment below) but is a really cool person when it comes to the subject.
Apart from there are review sessions before every exam (it is done by Dr. King) and they pretty much point out most of the key points for the exams.
Cons: You have to really study. Lots of material. Exams are fair, but pretty hard. Some exam questions can be very challenging. Power Points are posted only after lecture.
I really liked that we were not asked to memorize too much stuff, like equations or constants. I learned instead how to use my logic. She really knows her stuff and makes chemistry interesting by showing you how it applies to daily life.
Enthusiastic about the subject
Easy to understand
Cons: Lecture goes by quickly
Great teacher
Cons: Hard Grader
Hard exams
Lecture
No curve
As a chemistry major, she really cares if you understand the material so she is extra harder on us. Other than that she is really friendly and approachable. If you do not understand something, she is willing to help you out. I had her for lecture and lab for 2 terms. She likes interacting with students and her accent is bearable.
By the way, did I mention she remembers names very easily? And she LOVES participation in class/lectures.
Cons: Lecture goes too fast
Tries to make as many jokes as possible.
Cons: Her accent.
Cons: Hard Exams
Cons: Hard grader.
