Pros: Amazing teacher with amazing power points. She's great at explaining the fundamentals, which all the other orgo teachers failed to do.
Cons: You have to work for the class, but its really worth it and it gives you a way better understanding of organic chemistry

Pros: Excellent teacher - great explanations! She solves lots of problems in class and interacts with students. very nice person and very helpful. Go to her lecture or at least to her office hours! I got a 92 on the first exam and I studied mostly from her lecture slides.Textbook is great, too - easy to read - many solved examples and quizzes that are similar to exam questions.
Cons: You MUST study !!! - LOL
unfortunately, Guessing does not work on CHEM 101 exams.

Dr. Ilies is an excellent instructor. She has an innate talent for teaching. I highly recommend taking Orgo III with her if you want to understand the logic behind concepts, reactions. She will not simply make you memorize tons of reactions - she will make clear from the beginning that this is not her goal - instead, she wants students to understand why a specific reaction takes place, why Lithium tri-tert-butoxyaluminum hydride is a mild reducing agent, etc.
You should go to her lectures. She writes all exams herself and all questions are based on what she was teaching in class. Also, she provides lots of interesting, application - based examples (for example, biological functions of amines, pharmaceutical application of sulfonamides, etc.). If you do not go to her lectures, it will be hard to answer these questions on exams (textbook does not cover this material).
Also, she adds extra points to the final grade for participation in class discussions.
I learned a lot in the course, and got A+.

She is very good at teaching an introductory-level class. She introduces complicated topics such as "doping" slowly and with details so the average student can catch up on the concept. She stresses all the important points and explains how to solve exam questions in her lecture. Go to her class, and you will never have to stay up late to cram for exams again.

I've taken Chem 101 (Lecture, Recitation) this fall and had the most awesome time learning chemistry. Initially I had a hard time coping with lab reports and exams but as the days went on I was able to approach Dr. Ilies with most of doubts and she cleared them all pretty well. She's pretty straight forward (as you can see from the comment below) but is a really cool person when it comes to the subject.
Apart from there are review sessions before every exam (it is done by Dr. King) and they pretty much point out most of the key points for the exams.

Pros: Great teacher. Amazing Power Points, all posted. Very well organized. Clickers are fun and help you learn. She explains things in different ways, until you get it. Fast replies to e-mails. Very friendly, approachable and willing to meet to help you out, even outside her office hours.
Cons: You have to really study. Lots of material. Exams are fair, but pretty hard. Some exam questions can be very challenging. Power Points are posted only after lecture.
I really liked that we were not asked to memorize too much stuff, like equations or constants. I learned instead how to use my logic. She really knows her stuff and makes chemistry interesting by showing you how it applies to daily life.

As a chemistry major, she really cares if you understand the material so she is extra harder on us. Other than that she is really friendly and approachable. If you do not understand something, she is willing to help you out. I had her for lecture and lab for 2 terms. She likes interacting with students and her accent is bearable.
By the way, did I mention she remembers names very easily? And she LOVES participation in class/lectures.
