A good practice it's the program (My stat lab) he requires you to use for his class.
33% of your grade it's based on those questions that are due every week.
Cons: The program costs $80 and basically he spends all of his lecture time doing 2 or 3 questions out of the program. The test is online but from the same program. No curves but he does calculate your final if you did better than on the midterm as your only grade.
Very unorganized.
The problems from first midterm were all from STAT 201 (probability, normal distribution, binominals, etc), which was pretty easy. He will consider giving additional credit after the exam if you appeal and show that you made small mistakes. He also allowed us to work through the exam again for an additional 10 points to the midterm. He gives extra credit in-class with PRS clickers. The final was the same format as the midterm except a little more difficult. Overall, an okay professor and somewhat easy A.
Cons: Very, very, VERY inconsistent and unorganized with his lectures and material. I find it hard to take notes during lecture because he frequently jumps all over the place.
STAT 202 is a difficult course and Liechty does an okay job at teaching it. His tests are extremely difficult (class average was an F) and so curves were necessary. He does a decent job at preparing you for the exam but in the end its up to you to study. I was tempted to give him only 2 stars because his method of teaching is very unorganized which makes it extremely hard to follow. For 201 I had Hazem and wish he taught more 202 classes because at least Hazem was able to stay organized.
He says he has heavy teaching burden. when i asked him questions, he wanted me to walk while talk. I dont blame him on this, but his behaviors make me uncomfortable.
Tells you everything needed to ace the exam
Cons: Does not talk too loud
Easy to fall behind in the material
Exams are fairly difficult
His tests are most based on homework and notes, which is posted online after each lecture. You don't even have to go to class since he's using class videos but attendance does make a difference.
The following term however for stat202, I would have given anything to have him as a professor again. Comparing Liechty with Radson is pretty much like comparing God and Satan.
You're my boy Liechty!
Would not take again.
