Pros: -Knows the subject inside and out
-Gives great examples
-Exams are take-home
-Easy going, relaxed attitude
-Provides comprehensive notes
Cons: -Goes a little off topic sometimes
Dr. Gibney is fantastic! Highly recommend everybody take a class with her. She's very caring and honestly gives a shit whether her students learn something. Exams are always take-home and are straight from the notes. She gives great examples in class and encourages participation without requiring it. Attendance is also optional.

Pros: Professor Gibney was extremely understanding and helpful when asked for assistance. No matter how silly the question, she wouldn't quit until she got you to understand when you were confused about. She always answers emails quickly and kindly.
Cons: The ONLY gripe I have about this class was that Dr. Gibney was sick for a little part of the term, so she was a little behind and a little disorganized when she came back. However, I have taken her before and she's usually very much organized.
She's very flexible and understanding. Not only is she a great teacher, but she's an excellent person. I highly recommend her.

Cons: open answer questions are hard
She tries to pretend shes a sweetheart and everythign but in reality she is a terrible teacher. She picks favorites and if she doesn't like you she will not give you a good grade. She has good stories sometimes but that's it. I didn't learn anything in her class. She made me hate psychology

One of the best teachers I've had so far at Drexel. Although attendance was not mandatory I came to class anyways because the material she teaches is really interesting. Her tests are extremely easy and all you have to do is skim through the chapters in the textbook and you'll do fine. Her review sheets and powerpoints give away everything that is needed to do well on tests. The only reason why some of you think her tests are extremely hard is because you don't bother looking at her sheets and powerpoints enough. A very easy A. Looking forward to taking her again.

Pros: Very nice person
easy class
easy tests
Cons: teaching style
Reni is an amazing person but not a great teacher. If you just want an easy class and an easy teacher then she is perfect for you but she doesn't really teach much. I did not feel very motivated in her class. The exams are ok if you pay attention in class. Oh and if you go to class ha. She can get a little quirky at times but that's not a bad thing. I would recommend this teacher to someone looking for an easy A. Or someone looking for an interesting conversation. She is very helpful during office hours and extremely welcoming.

Professor Gibney is a wonderful combination of extremely smart and extremely nice. She is a very kind professor and will go out of her way to help you, but she is not a pushover. She knows Cognitive Psychology in and out. If you have a question she can't answer, you can email it to her and she will look up the research for you. The tests are a mix of multiple choice and short answer. They are easy if you come to class and read the book. Gibney loves discussion and class is fun and interesting. There is one project, which is a group presentation on a book, with a couple research articles. I highly recommend taking Gibney for any class.

The class was boring at times but overall it was pretty good. She tries to get the students involved. Attendance wasn't necessary. As long as you read the material you should be good. Many of the exam questions can be found online with the website from the book. She is such a sweet lady and is available if you have questions. She gave us the option of taking every test over it if we wanted. I didn't because I was lazy but I still got a B in the class

Dr. Gibney is a great professor who is very thorough. She gives good notes in class, gives assignments that are pertinent to the class, and tries to make things interesting. The workload is very low. Her tests are fair she uses multiple choice, short answer, and matching which is good. She helps out a lot with papers, lets you submit a rough draft, then make corrections and hand it in. She will help you with anything you need and it is great that she lets you retake any of her tests. Great professor. Take her

her larger classes are a bit boring (slideshow lecture), smaller classes are much better. she loves to teach and therefore makes the classes more interesting. very friendly and upbeat, easy to talk to. she cares a lot for students and will help you anytime you need. never takes attendance and her exams are easy. she feels as though students are adults and should makes their own decision to come to class and learn the material. i would recommend her.

WONDERFUL teacher. By far the best one I've had at Drexel. She sincerely cares about the wellbeing of her students and will go out of her way to help you, whether it be to grasp new material or if you just are curious about psychology in general. Maybe one of the sweetest women I've ever met! Light workload, interesting lectures, attendance not required [but good if you want to pass the tests], and sweet teacher = a darn good deal.

Lectures are about as good as they get in psychology, but Reni is so sweet and funny. She tries so hard to get kids to interact and learn the material. Any exam can be retaken, and if you do worse on the retake, the original grade sticks. Exams fairly follow along with the lectures posted on WebCT, so study those the weekend before the exam, and you'll be fine.

Sweet teacher, she cares about her students, and will go out of her way to help you if necessary. Easy courseload, only assignments were essays. Tests were reasonable, and based on what was taught as well as assigned readings. She's knowledgeable on her topic (psychology), and is a great teacher. I'd recommend her.

The topics in this class can be very interesting (stories of varying mental problems) and Dr. Gibney occassionally throws in other anecdotes and mind games to make it a little more interesting. Overall, the class was still a little on the boring side, but the exams were non-cumulative and there was plenty of extra credit. Recommended.

Stength:
- She makes class fun by talking over lectures instead of putting powerpoint presentation
- she really knows her stuff; i realized after her TA tried to teach the class
- she provided study material for the exam
- she grades faily
- she provides snack duing exams :)
- she gives lots of make up exams to those who really want to take them
- she gives lots of extra credits
- she covers more materials than expected
- she provides students' performance in timely fashion
- her office hour is amazing, visit her
Weakness:
- she sometimes talked about herself too much
- she does not give back your exam unless you ask for it, so pretty much you don't know what you got wrong, but it doesn't really matter because her exams are straight forward
- she does not review previous lecture, if you missed a class, you'll have to catch up by yourself
Overall: her class is fun...and I would take any psy class with her again.

She gets the material across, but definately doesn't go out of her way to make it interesting, and some of her examples are unclear...I took AP Psych and my high school teacher was 932749374983 times better. Avoids answering questions that are the least bit intellectual, and definately treats you more rudely in her office than in class. She was OK and I'd take her again as her tests and papers arent bad and attendance isn't required, but she's no star.

Shes an o-k teacher, the tests are easy if you take notes but the class is really really boring and the attempts she did make to make it fun seemed to fail miserably. Shes a good person and helpful if you need it for sure but for someone who doesnt fall asleep in class I found my eyes getting really heavy at the sound of her monotone voice explaining her OVERHEAD projections, her handwriting wasnt the best either so a close seat is better. The courseload and the tests were pretty easy though, just take half decent notes is all.

Class was very very interesting. Maureen made class good (for the few that I went to). Grading is very easy and she gives LOTS of extra credit. She is a fun-loving woman who definately cares about her students - even after the class, I see her and she speaks to me. She is one of the friendliest professors at Drexel and most importantly, she gets the proper information to the student in a way that we can learn it. Cognitive Psych is just a very interesting topic and I probably only think that because of Maureen.

There was almost no homework and attendance was optional, she was also a nice grader. But, she was really boring and got side tracked very easily. She would constantly ask students if they had a question about the topic and of course someone would always ask for more detail on something that she admitted wouldnt matter for the test. We would then be side tracked the rest of the class. She wasnt a bad person though and honestly wanted to teach, but if psych isnt your thing make sure to keep your cellphone charged for a couple hours of game playing.

I'm not really interested in psychology, and I was lucky to have Maureen as my teacher. I never came to the lecture. I only came in the 2nd class, before 1st & 2nd exam, the exam day, before final and a final exam day. Amazingly, I ended up with A. Easy teacher, good for you guys who take psychology is only for requirement. Good Luck!

This teacher teaches the exact way all college classes should work. You learn alot from her lectures, because she doesn't just read from the book. She also provides her own information about research and side-stories related to the chapter you are learning. Most importantly, her tests are so easy. There are 3 tests and the lowest is dropped. And there's a final (There's also extra-credit, which shouldn't even be needed). The tests come DIRECTLY from the notes--word for word. You don't even need to buy the expensive text book. Easy A plus you learn alot about the basics of Psych. I hear Chute is the best Psych teacher, but Gibney is a also great choice. This is a great class to add if you have a heavy load in a term.
