Cons: His tests are hard but if you do the homeworks and go over the notes, you should be fine.
Good professor but definitely dont expect this to be an easy A. You must do the work or at least show that you are trying.
Makes the class interesting with his outlandish examples
But if you study on your own and really pay attention in class you'll be fine. Even though it is kind of hard because he isn't the most enthusiastic person regardless of his random jokes. Chill dude, not so great a professor.
The only negative thing I have to say is that his tests are ridicccuulloouusss....I seriously felt like i knew the material...but dang are his tests hard. No worries though, because he curves them a whole bunch.
seems like a good guy and i found his corny jokes funny sometimes, but ultimately i couldnt stand his lectures.
His notes are very long and boring but a positive is that he prints them out and you just fill in the notes on the sheets. So it saves you a little writing.
He is an okay teacher but I just don't think he teaches the material very well.
His workload ISN'T ridiculous.. you only have one online quiz a week (you get a 35 pt cushion for the quizzes). Then there's 2 midterm + final.
His lectures AREN'T pointless because the free response of the tests come from the lecture notes. They are a bit boring and he does throw in random comments but he's just trying to get through the material as well.
The multiple choice part of his practice exam is very similar to the actual exam. And an A is 80 - 100 so that's a huge curve.
Stehr's a decent professor and an intelligent guy who knows what's going on. If you are a diligent student, you'll be fine.
First off, his workload is ridiculous. NO OTHER ECON 201 Professor gives this much work. He makes this class unnecessarily hard. His lectures are pointless. You WILL want to shoot yourself. I would literally watch paint dry before sitting in front of this guy again.
AND, last, but certainly not least, his practice exams look NOTHING like the actual exams. None of the questions are the same and it's zero help.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
I went to every class and missed one, and it was the only class he took attendance in so I got no credit for coming to class.
I went to him several times with problems and he told me i could get no extra credit and I needed to invest more time in it. But i was already doing work at least once a day.
He also had really annoying examples and wierd comments like about how he eats raw cookie dough.
BAD IDEA!!
If you are having a bad day or go blank, the tests are really easy to fail. You do get to take the midterm home, but even with the book the answers aren't exactly easy.
If you don't have to take the course, or if you question your math, then skip the course.
