Pros: take good notes is key to success
Cons: don't take her class if you really want to learn. She is teaching very easy stuff for grad. students which is similar to freshman year chemistry class. She is out of her mind. She take points two times for same question when I asked her she was she did same for everyone. She is really retarded.
don't take her class.........a big nooo!!

Penn was a great teacher. She uses lots of analogies that help students understand and she gives $20 if you answer one of her questions correctly. I would definately take her class again.

Excellent teacher. Very knowledgeable, uses real scenarios to help you understand the entire concept. Do the recitation homework problems and pay attention in her lectures and you will have your A. Once again, she is a very good professor and i would take her again for Chemistry.

Awful. Her lectures are terrible. Her exams are tricky and filled with random stuff that she never discusses in class. I once had a friend who got the right answer on an exam but got it marked wrong, because she was too lazy to change the grade. (there were two right answers to a particular question). Avoid at all costs!

Her notes don't usually help on tests, and are always behind recitation. She doesn't post her notes online like the other lecturers. She thinks she is too loud and refuses to use a microphone, but the back of the room can't hear her. The one time I had individual contact with her, she was very harsh.

I always loved going to her lectures because she cracked jokes all the time and brough in 'visuals.' She doesn't put her notes online, but if you listen, alot of the stuff she says IS on the test. This was the only lecture I actually enjoyed going to..and it was CHEM

very very smart teacher. and if you focus on the class you learn a lot. she is giving idiotic jokes but still they made me laugh all the time. Stay away from her, just listen to her class. She gives very important informatons about the material.

Professor Penn was soo hilarious during lecture! She would always make these funny comments or do silly antics that were actually helpful in learning the material.

This woman is crazy. She is not a bad person and is very smart but what she teaches in lecture is so much easier than what is tested on the exams.

Dr Penn (don't call her Mrs. Penn, she made that clear on the first day of class) was a great professor that really knew her stuff. A lot of students in the class didn't like her because she has a very particular way of running her classroom and I can respect that. On occasion, it gives the appearance that she doesn't care about her students (not accepting late work even if the student wasn't in class to get the assignment), but she truly does.
Homework is assigned about once a week and normally isn't that hard, but make sure you show every step and write it neatly. Dr. Penn will make it very clear that being able to follow a student's train of thought through a problem is very important. Tests are very straightforward if you've done the homework and paid attention in lecture. We even got to retake a test for a higher grade.
Lectures were usually interesting and easy to follow. I say attendance was required mainly because you have to get the assignments, but if you can read the book and get the necessary information from somebody else in class, I guess you don't technically have to go (though I'd recommend it).
Great class, great professor. I'd definitely take her class again.
