Pros: Interesting and enthusiastic
Cons: Weekly essays (for honors option). I hate writing. So much.
Took the honors option, which made it my class with the heaviest workload for the term (weekly essays, a group project where you teach the class for the day, and the designing of a psych experiment on the class and an APA write-up of it). But then again the class itself was mostly discussion-based, which made it more interesting. Ludo's a super great guy, he really does loves psychology and really does love teaching/talking about it. Great sense of humor, great energy, always interested in what students have to say, isn't so much teaching anything as just encouraging students to think about thinking. Psychology really isn't my thing but I still moderately enjoyed the class on a whole.
And the textbook is pretty fantastic, at times utterly hilarious. Hands down best textbook I've ever actually read.

Pros: Interesting class, he's laid back. Easy to get an A or B
Cons: The group project at the end is a ten page research paper. He's very strict with making sure it flows nicely, and thats hard to do with five people in a short amount of time.
I took this as an accelerated course in the summer. He's an entertaining guy, tries to get laughs out of the class, I'd definitely recommend him. Your entire grade depends on the weekly writings every week and a group paper at the end. If you're relevant to the topic, and quote both the textbook and the type of scholarly article he wants, then you'll get an A on them. If you miss out on any of those, he won't hesitate to give you a 7 or 8 out of 10 on the weekly writings.

Pros: Good teacher
Knows his stuff
Answers questions
Interesting labs
Lets you re-write the midterm
Cons: Hard grader
Never explained grading procedure for labs
One of my favorite psych professors. He knows his stuff and teaches it well. You don't need the textbook (I never used mine for class, but read it anyway simply because I was interested). The only exams are papers. The midterm is a paper you do on your own, but can re-write after you get it back as many times as you want, and the final is a group project. You have several options other than writing a paper. I made a wikipedia page and wrote a short paper. If you put the time into fixing your work you can't help but get an A+.

Pros: Great lecturer, he doesn't get boring. Tries his best to do fun things, we did a class in the rec center and on buckley turf
Cons: Doesn't accept late assignments at all
It was a fun class, we did activities in class a lot and he was always willing to adapt to different situations. Would definitely take him again, despite the weekly papers and projects.

amazing psych teacher
I had him for 112 and he is my absolute favorite teacher at Drexel. He challenges your mind and opinions and really makes you think about things. Interesting teaching style. You cannot raise your hand in class. Funny and can keep you awake through class. The first class I actually didn't mind waking up early for. You have a paper every week but it is easy.

Pros: Covers material thoroughly
Cons: A lot of group work.
He likes to push your buttons. It almost seems as if each of his classes is a study. It is a lot of work but he is a great professor. You learn a lot and will do just find if you can keep up with the work.

I'd def. recommend Scheffer. He is full of information and generally entertaining. He also grades pretty slack considering I didn't do a lot of work and still got an A.

Professor Scheffer is a great teacher, he definitely knows what he is talking about. You should do fine in the class if you work on the essays a few days in advance, but I wouldn't recommend buying the textbook, because I hardly used it all quarter. Overall, an easy A if you do your work on time.

You definitely want to take Dr. Scheffer's class, especially if you're a psych major. all classes are writing intensive (which you need either two or three of before you graduate) and his classes are always the same: weekly writing assignment, research review paper for a midterm, and a group research paper for the final. He'll try to intimidate you the first few days which eventually becomes amusing as he is very friendly and cares a lot about his students. he's always willing to help students, especially with psychology and professional matters, and is the kind of professor that will always stop to say hi if you pass him on campus. abnormal psych was a really fun and interesting class, i'd recommend it to anyone.

Had him for honors psych. He seems like an interesting guy, and had I taken one of his upper-level classes I would've probably appreciated him more. But he just didn't do it for me in terms of what he could've offered in our class. I guess I had a lot of high expectations, and just felt disappointed.

Dr. Scheffer is definitely a fantastic professor. Class is always interesting and fun and the papers are well, papers. All students should take at least one of his courses. Always willing to help out students and is available for feedback. Doesn't try to fail students unless he is given a reason. All courses are writing intensive.

scheffer really made psych 112 interesting. the workload wasnt too bad - a one page paper every week and then a long term experiment to do, but he covers the material well and tries to make class interesting. youre not supposed to raise your hand though and that was kind of weird but for the most part, he was a pretty good teacher. would def retake

Legitimately cares about students and appreciates your input. He conditions you to impugn supposed realities and ask for him to supply references or background data to support the claims he makes. He’s a tough grader, but as long as you do the work you’ll be fine, and his accents pretty sweet.

He's a hard grader on the papers, but he makes class fun. You can rewrite the paper as many times as you want within a month to get an A. He took away our final paper and replaced it with a group experiment. He only makes you read one chapter a week and makes class fun. Only you can't raise your hand....that was a little weird.

He's unique, that's for sure. He definitely knows what he's talking about, and his goal really seems to be to make the students understand a little bit. Lots of class discussions, not all of them are productive, though. He's a really tough grader, and attendance is mandatory. He's ok.

Thank god for Ludo!
I didn't open the text once this term, so it saved me money. Google the name of the text and you can get onlines of all the chapters from the publisher.
He wants students to think even thought he realizes most of them are idiots. I loved him but hated most of the people in the class.
Weekly responces to the chapters were required, as well as a term paper you could rewrite and resubmit for a better grade. No quizzes or tests. Instead we did a poster for our final (sounds stupid, but I actually learned a lot about putting together a research study).

I took sports psych as an elective because it sounded cool (my major is completely unrelated). Ludo is a good guy who cares about his students. He tries his best to make the class interesting, for example he would let us do activities outside when it was nice out. His grading is fairly tough but not unmanagable. The workload was somewhat light, but he ended up not giving us a midterm so that helped. He was readily available for questions. Overall I enjoyed the class.

He seemed quite tough in the beginning. He is actually an extremely hard grader but you have many opportunities to rewrite papers. He gives really constructive comments on your papers. However, the materials we learn in class do not exactly pertain to anything that is graded since we only have two papers to write all term. But he is a funny guy and prepares you for other psychology classes.

Learned absolutely nothing in this class major waste of time. Took attendance yet cancelled class at least six times. Always got into stupid little groups to discuss things and then have to make posters to present our ideas. Are we in grade school or college? Buying the book was also a big waste of money since there were no tests only weekly assignments, the midterm paper, and final group project. He grades the papers ridiculously hard and expects that you have time to rewrite it like 5x like this is the only class you are taking. He also gives you 6 weeks into the next term to rewrite your final paper and he will submit a change of grade form. How stupid is that I think he has a little too much time on his hands. In grading the final group project how in the world is a 10 page paper equal in points to a stupid poster just so ridiculous. He also has some serious problems with America and speaks openly about it. Again why do you live here then? One final comment good luck on rewrites and trying to understand his handwriting.
