Cons: Inexplainably bad attitude to students. Has a "get out of my face" attitude to all students.
I want to preface, I'm doing well in the class, and not just a salty and spiteful student.
I wrote this review because for Circuits, there are two teachers - Gerber and Hrebien. Both are terrible, so if you're taking this class, there's really no lesser of the two evils, both are terrible. If you need to take this class - I'm sorry, but you need to brave through this. For Hrebien, I've never seen a teacher despise and hate his students so much. His attitude is unacceptable. He treats your questions with mocking and condescension, so if you're the type of student that needs to ask questions, whether it be in private one-on-one in office or in-class (God forbid you), prepare to be mocked. Hrebien is a low-grade teacher, with the only good thing about this class being his quizzes and midterms being fairly easy. I hope making students feel like shit for asking questions helps you sleep at night Hrebien.
Cons: extremely boring
This professor is extremely boring and often condescending when answering questions. Weekly quizzes are easy grades if you know what you're doing. Weekly homework is not mandatory but is 5% extra credit if you're willing to put in the effort. He drops the two lowest quiz grades. You're supposed to read the textbook, but very few people do.
Cons: He can be rude when students ask questions or don't fully understand the material. He also assigns an unnecessary amount of homework and the problems can be overly complicated while it is the fundamentals that need to be learned here. The questions on the quizzes and exams are easy in comparison to homework problems but the homework is so hard that it takes away from learning the basics when making a bunch of tedious math errors
Cons: Weekly Quizzes are kind of hard.
2)Ensures all students understand the concept before moving onto the next topic
3)Is to the point and is able to stick to the most important and relevant information
4)HW's, quizes, midterms and finals are similar, if you understand what you are doing you will do well in the exam.
5) doing the hw and some little more practise is good enough for exam
Cons: 1) Slightly grouchy, or easily irritable
2) might get a little annoyed if you ask too many questions or questions on basic things-However note he will still explain everything to you and answer your questions
Great professor. I liked him. He might not be the most inspiring professor (i.e he might not inspire you to become the next graham bell or see EE in a new light or something) but in terms of purely teaching the course and teaching it well and explaining the concepts to you he is great. Take him if you can.
Cons: A 3 hour class a week is too long. It would be better if it is divided among 2 days a week.
Consider taking !!
Cons: not very friendly when questiosn are asked
However, He might get a bit agitated if you ask questions . Anyhow even with a frown he does answer the question very clearly.
I would retake him.
Got to say ECE 200 is a hard course but if you really work hard on it you can get a A.
His quizes and midterms are moderate. If you do the homework its pretty straightforward. If not its hard.
He teaches the material so damn well. There are at least 3 old quizzes posted online for each quiz you have to take, you can have a calculator and four pages of notes and a Schaum's outline for god's sake. There is NO EXCUSE to not have an A in this class. If you don't get an A, it is because you are a complete idiot and probably should have spent less time hung over and more time in class.
This guy takes forever to cover topics. At least Jim Donnelly would jump around and hoot and holler now and again. During the hour of his lecture, it will be a feat of human endurance to pay attention to his monotone dronings about modeling.
His TAs grade hard and he's not too lenient on homework. Fortunately, by the time you get to the final (50% of your grade, by the way), you should know just by reading the book to get a C in the class.
Take solace in knowing tDEC ends in one more term after this class.
