Apparently he created a textbook and was a "problem tester" back in the day so that explains it.
Pay attention in his classes, take notes, ask questions, study a normal amount, his tests are medium level difficulty. Very straightforward.
Enjoys talking about engineering (maybe you can get a reference from him).
Explains concepts in a simple manner and makes them very easy to understand.
Cons: Likes to pick on people who don't pay attention and gives looks at people who come in late.
Enjoys making very passive condescending remarks towards students asking questions, like "how do you find (something)?" His response will probably be "What?" or "You're not making any sense."
Enjoys using his nerd/engineer-speak to talk about math concepts in overly complex/grandiose syntax, may be difficult to follow if you're not on aderrall so asking questions is inevitable.
His condescending attitude can easily be combated with confidence in asking questions. I like to dissect things and understand them in a very literal manner, so asking questions is inevitable.I know people wouldn't understand if the few of us in class who asked questions didn't ask questions. If you don't let him phase you, he has no choice but to answer your question and help you. Catch him doing a part of a problem wrong a few times and he will stop looking at your questions like you're retarded. I learned all these facts the hard way. Basically don't let him stop you from asking questions and you'll do fine.
Lets you out early
Always gives you time to ask questions before class
Cons: Teaches WAAYYYYYYY too fast
Teaches believing that you have already conquered the new concepts and formulas he taught last class
I'm not good at math but this was a required class. He teaches very fast-I was unable to remember half of it.
He teaches like you already know whatever you studied last time-I unfortunately cannot remember numbers for my life or formulas for that matter. In other words, if he introduces a few new formulas and methods on Monday, on Wednesday he wont even mention it and will use it. What's worse is that he skips many steps-even steps that had formulas in them and if you ask, he'll tell you what he did.
I had a very difficult time with this. Somehow I actually managed an 80 and 76 on my mid terms so the test probably isn't that difficult for those of you who can manage math.
If you aren't particularly good at math, please follow these tips
Tips:
Review EVERY class
Write and try out every sum or type of sum
Memorize all the formulas
Ask questions

2. Gives a lot of time during night courses to ask homework problems.
3. His exams are definitely do-able in the time frame given to you.
4. Approachable, if you're struggling, talk to him!
5. Let's you out early usually.
6. Took away some end of the class topics so our final wasn't too demanding.
7. The problems he assign are usually on par with at least 70% of the questions he gives you on exam (might be identical or very similar to them)
8. Doesn't give minuses, so if you have an 80, you get a B not a B-. I had a 66% average going into the final but got a 100% and had a 79.6% as a final grade, he gave me a B.
9. Final is not cumulative
Cons: 1. I felt 2 hours a week wasn't enough to understand Multivariate Calculus.
2. Never really gave solid notes.
3. Midterms tend to be a lot tougher than the final. Had very poor midterm grades in his class but he makes the final a grade booster if you study the topics he lists.
4. I wish he didn't end class that early, even though it was great to get done by 9-9:15pm, I felt some days he rushed us out because he just wanted to go home when he could have easily done more homework problems.
5. Do not be late for his class, he tends to give people who walk in late very disdain looks. Be respectful and in return, he will be respectful to you.
He doesn't curve but he does round. He doesn't give out minuses. I went into the final with a D and got a B in the class despite really having a C+.
Cons: Somewhat condescending when students ask a question. "What was wrong with this problem, huh?"
Overall I would recommend taking him, I had him for a 2 hour lecture at night. Good guy, funny too. Seems concerned about students.
Cons: Makes a big deal about engineering. Always
You can find the textbook online or use an older edition, or just make copies of the one in the library. You only need 2 or 3 chapters.
Cons: no other grade except midterm and finals
:(
Cons: Boring lectures and very difficult exams
At times he would explain simple things in a complex manner. That is probably because he has a phd.
But if you listen well you can understand it.
He is very helpful and would go out of the way to help students.
