Professor McNamee is fun, wonderful, etc. until you get your final grade back, and it does not reflect on the grades you've received throughout the term at all. When you email her to ask her to explain, give pointers, or even just to return your final paper with some commentary to see how you possibly could've blown it so hard to knock you down from an A+ on all assignments all quarter to a B... she just ignores you.
With all due respect, as with many English professors, she pulls grades out of her ass. Take her if you love English and cannot wait to do as much of it as possible. Do not take her if ENGL103 is only a required gen-ed for your major.

Pros: Professor McNamee is clearly familiar with the material. Class time is very structured and predictable, but various activities and discussions are planned for each 90 minute session, so class time is never dull. Workload is reasonable. Students generally have two weeks to complete each paper, with an organized peer-review halfway between the two weeks. Her feedback is always ex
I would highly recommend Professor McNamee. She is a fair grader, and offers excellent feedback on assignments. Do not expect to be able to slack off, but do expect to learn a lot and be treated with a lot of respect.

Pros: She understands technology, she understands that not everyone is an English major. She is a relaxed grader.
I only had her half the term (health sabbatical). She was a good teacher, very patient with the egos in our class, and I did learn about rhetoric in her class. She is a very relaxed grader: I did not answer the prompt on my first essays, but she still gave me a B, I totaly deserved an Incomplete or F.

Pros: Very open classroom setting, open conversations, etc.
Cons: Doesn't spend much time on papers, so be prepared to write the fastest papers of your life.
Overall I love her, she was extremely great to talk to, and didn't mind opening up the floor for discussion. The beginning of the term was a lot of reading assignments, but they really weren't hard at all. I think the longest one was like 10 pages, and they were quick reads. Most of the time she didn't really have much homework, just a lot of journals. I'd definitely recommend her and take her again.

Pros: This lady is the best. Hands down. No exceptions.
The single greatest person and the single greatest teacher ever hired by this university. If you don't take her class you are less of a person than you will be if you take her class. Stop even reading this review and just sign up for her class already.

Her class was interesting and she doesn't make you sit and listen all she has to say. She rather her class to sit and make a circle so we can have a discussion. She likes to make us sit in small groups, talk to each other about what we researched and then one person per group will talk to the class about their homework. The class seems boring at times but you'll learn a lot. She is very understanding but make sure you do your work. She don't let students to fool her. She will challenge you but in a positive way.

Pros: She was by-far the best english teacher I have ever had as a student. She challenges her students to discuss topics during almost every class and makes it very interactive and fun for the students. Only 4 essays the whole term and they are very open ended and you can pretty much choose any topic you want. Very good and fair with grading and communication.
Cons: She teaches a bit like high school.
TAKE HER FOR ANY ENGLISH CLASS AT DREXEL.. WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND TO ANYONE!! :)

Professor McNamee was really good. She is a bit scatterbrained, but is very caring and understanding. She loves to help out her students, so don't hesitate to ask her anything. She'll go above and beyond with her answer. Class isn't boring - she enjoys having discussions and encourages her students to talk and participate. There is a lot of writing involved, but nothing too strenuous. There are writing workshops pretty much every single week, so she is very determined for everyone to improve their writing skills. I would definitely take her again.

Great discussions (half the class talks, which she allows to go on and encourages, adds her own bits in), and lots of her talking and suggesting various fresh ideas, one after another. No English teacher has made me actually think so freely and be able to bring in so many of my own ideas as she has. Taking this class was like a fun and at times rigorous mental stretch exercise. Workload is not light, though not unnecessarily difficult. Would highly recommend.

McNamee is the nicest and most understanding teacher ive had here. She loves having discussions on topics and the papers she assigns out. Not too much work, but she goes over everything, gives lots of ideas, and breaks it all down for you on a daily schedule. She loves getting the class talking about a subject and will often talk for over ten minutes without anyone saying a word lol. Recommend taking her to any english 102ers

Great teacher! I was dreading taking an English elective but she made class interesting and easy. There is a lot of discussion each class about assigned readings so you do have to be prepared. Homework never took too long and most of the assigned readings were short stories or exerpts from books (instead of reading the whole thing).
There isn't much time given to write the 2 papers but the topics are presented on the syllabus so you can prepare ahead of time if neccessary.

Really good professor. somewhat a lot of work for a 3 credit class- journals due pretty much every class, an in-class midterm and a final, and two papers. the papers weren't too bad and she grades pretty fairly. she will also work with you to do a topic you are actually interested in. the midterm and final were a bit annoying because she puts like 8 short answer questions on it in a 50 minute class test time. but she understands that and grades appropriately. i would definitely take her again in the future.

Does assign a good amount of reading but you shouldn't be taking her if you don't want to read. Really likes to discuss the material. Tests are easy provide you know the material but they can be long. Papers have to be turned in, in a week (from first draft to final draft). she says attendance is required but i only saw her take roll once or twice but she does collect journal entries (every class) but u can sneak in at the end of class to submit those.

This professor is very passionate about literature and makes every attempt to get her students as involved as she is. She is really caring about her students and is flexible within reason. Grading isn't as hard as it could be which is a plus if you aren't an english major. However, there are 2 tests and 2 essays with steady reading assignments throughout the semester. A "B" is easily achievable and an "A" if you put in extra effort.

Great teacher, esp. considering I hate english. She tries to make the class as enjoyable as possible, with discussions and minimal written work. The work that is assigned is pretty easy, and shes pretty cool about extensions. If you make up some silly excuse she'll accept it and allow you to turn it in on a later date. She is not that easy of a grader, but she will let you redo assignments. Good professor overall.

Great teacher. Workload wasnt too hard, and as long as you turn in the assignments on a fairly timely basis...you should get by easily with an A or B. We had 3 essays, and I turned in 2/3 more than 3 days late and assignments were still accepted and graded nicely. She is more than willing to help students that need it, and makes an otherwise boring class quite interesting. Expect discussions, and little busy work...Id recommend her to everyone who wants an easy A/B.

Awesome teacher. She get's really excited about pretty bland literature that you probably already read in high school. on the plus side, if you tell her you've already read it, she's really great about letting you take your paper in a different direction from the class assignment. she grades really easy and she's pretty lenient about attendance and homework deadlines, but if you don't come to class - she makes it a point to know your name and if she sees you on campus, she'll definitely ask you where you were.

The nicest, most caring, most understanding person you will ever meet. Take her class if you can, but not if you're looking for something exciting in your curriculum. The course work is generally pretty bland, but I think that might just be Eng 102 in general.
Not hard, though, and I had some really nice conversations with her.

Take her if you can, she's probably one of the best English teachers. More about learning than busy work. Probably 4 short essays (1-2p.) this term which she prepares you for and gives you the freedom to take your writing where you want. Fair grader or better. Basically is much more concerned with the student learning and some participation than horrible monotone slide-show teachers.
