With all due respect, as with many English professors, she pulls grades out of her ass. Take her if you love English and cannot wait to do as much of it as possible. Do not take her if ENGL103 is only a required gen-ed for your major.
I would highly recommend Professor McNamee. She is a fair grader, and offers excellent feedback on assignments. Do not expect to be able to slack off, but do expect to learn a lot and be treated with a lot of respect.
I only had her half the term (health sabbatical). She was a good teacher, very patient with the egos in our class, and I did learn about rhetoric in her class. She is a very relaxed grader: I did not answer the prompt on my first essays, but she still gave me a B, I totaly deserved an Incomplete or F.
Cons: Doesn't spend much time on papers, so be prepared to write the fastest papers of your life.
Overall I love her, she was extremely great to talk to, and didn't mind opening up the floor for discussion. The beginning of the term was a lot of reading assignments, but they really weren't hard at all. I think the longest one was like 10 pages, and they were quick reads. Most of the time she didn't really have much homework, just a lot of journals. I'd definitely recommend her and take her again.
The single greatest person and the single greatest teacher ever hired by this university. If you don't take her class you are less of a person than you will be if you take her class. Stop even reading this review and just sign up for her class already.
Cons: She teaches a bit like high school.
TAKE HER FOR ANY ENGLISH CLASS AT DREXEL.. WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND TO ANYONE!! :)
There isn't much time given to write the 2 papers but the topics are presented on the syllabus so you can prepare ahead of time if neccessary.
Not hard, though, and I had some really nice conversations with her.
