Dr. Oestreich's classes are my favorite and this course was no exception. For a topic that can be very undefinable (i.e. boring for those of us who are concentrating in human rights), I found his lectures to be engaging and accessible. Just one paper and a couple of in-class essay exams make up the grading scale. Come to class and you'll learn all you need to know.

Ditto what the person below me said.... EXTREMELY egotistical, and we did nothing that had to do with the country we were supposed to prepare for, lots of work, little guidelines... but I admit i did learn a little bit :-/

Truthfully, I'm still undecided on him... He's a nice guy, his lectures are really interesting and he is clearly very educated (as he will remind you every single day). Sometimes his ego is just a little too much to handle.

Easily one of the best professors at Drexel, especially in the history/politics department. He's animated and knowledgeable, a combination that plays out well in class. Yes, you will have to read, but you will learn, and damn it thats what we pay tuition for.

this is my third class with the man and he's a fantastic professor. definitely passionate about his material and genuinely wants students to learn something ANYThing from the readings. great personality a lil kooky at times but i think everyone should take one of his classes. he really works with you on reaction papers, midterms finals and offers constructive criticism...he's very good at helping you come up with topics for final papers. go to his office hours...it's the best way to learn for his classes...he talks and talks like there's no tomorrow, but he's VERY intelligent and you pick up valuable material when you visit his office hours...pick his brain he's a smart guy.

Ok teacher.... Classes seem like they go forever because he lectures the entire time! If you decide to go with him, take shorter classes.

The best PSCI teacher I've had. He isn't blatantly on one side or the other either. He'll listen to both sides of the spectrum and not throw any of his own partisan views at you like most PSCI prof's do. Must go to class and take notes. His classes are very interesting and you'll learn a lot. He def. knows what he's talking about. He's a pretty hard grader, he expects a lot out of his students. I HIGHLY recommend him.

A LOT of work to do in this class. His tests are ridiculously difficult and he's a tough grader which makes it worse. You MUST read the books and take notes (a definite). Personally, I wouldn't take him again because I hate history and political science, etc.

Interesting guy. Do well on the paper and final (get an A) and he will throw out your midterm. Lots of reading, but I didn't do any of it and I still got a B in the class overall. The reading seems difficult, but you'll be off well if you can undrstand it. Good luck. Oh if you're French don't take this class, he'll make fun of your people a lot!

Class is always interesting, lots of discussions, good amount of jokes and lines that are off-topic to make things less serious. A lot of class notes, lots of readings and overall, quite a lot of work. You will learn a lot, but you will have to study and read a lot if you want an A. If you write stupid stuff on a paper or exam you will be penalized and you will regret it. He does give F's. You need to go lecture in order to do fine in the class. Overall, I would recommen him, but be prepared for a lot of work. But, hey, this is college! You will learn a lot, too.

This guy has attended some of the best universities in the world. I would not describe the workload as easy. We had between 50 and 100 pages to read every week. His grading is somewhat strange to me. He gives awesome papers and exams A-. He usually writes B's. I could never figure out what it takes to get an A and not an A- in this class.

Really nice guy, made poloitical science interesting. He was a tad on the weird side, but he had a great sense of humor, esp when it came to himself. Workload was handable, just keep up with the reading, and see him for help, he encourages office visits, since he says he gets bored there by himself :) I'd take him again, even though I got a B, started slacking in the end...

Cool prof. Talks lots but is funny, likes to tell stories and make jokes, but he also gets down to business too. Take careful notes because tests are based on class and readings, he looks to see if you know the stuff. Defenitely learned a lot, one of the best profs at Drexel. We need more like him.
