She will spend all of the two hour for her lecture. She will try to get the class involve but the material can get pretty "dry". Try to pay attention because it is easy to get lose if you stray away from her lecture. She does care about her students. She is always willing to help students understand their material better. Most ACCT 115 is set up the same, generally, like each other so she try to make you understand the material as much as possible.

She's a pro in accounting and she knows where we will make mistakes so that she will emphasize the main problems in class.
You may fall asleep in class because her class is always full of students and she never tries to put more fun into the course. However, I highly recommend her to those who can control themselves in class. She's a very academical professor.

Kaplan is straightforward. She teaches you what you need to know for the exams. If you do the homework and study what she tells you too then you can definetly get an A. However, her tests require that you understand all the topics covered in class. She is helpful when asked questions and open to spending extra time with students. The class is not very exciting, but if you pay attention you will learn what you need to know. I am an A student.

Although she is very nice and definitely a great deal about her students, I completely disagree with her grading system. Her exams alone are worth 80% and if you do bad on one exam...you are basically screwed. She has 20 multiple choice and 3-4 open ended. The total amount of points you get in exams, quizzes and homework's end up totaling to a 1000 points. 1 multiple choice wrong on your test could set you back 7-8 points. Might be an easy class for accounting majors...but if you are not an act. major be prepared to face a lot of wtf moments. Got a B because I messed up on the first exam couldn't recover even though I got A's on the other 2 exams and the quizzes and hws.

Kaplan is the best professor to have for accounting bar none. I had to work hard for my grade but she was incredibly helpful and made me really understand the material.

Kaplan is a great teacher to have for Accounting. She gives a "practice" assignment before each exam, which is either a long, comprehensive problem or a take-home quiz. A exam review sheet, which is basically a mock exam, is also given along with its solutions for your own benefit.
As long as you pay attention to the examples she does in class and review before her exams, you'll have no problem. I knew nothing about Accounting before taking her class and did fine. I couldn't imagine having a better professor for the subject. Would definitely re-take.

Great teacher. She will explain everything until you understand the material. She's very nice and helpful if you ever need any extra help.
Class is pretty boring, but thats just because its accounting. I recomend that you take this teacher. Do the work, hand it in on time and you will be fine.

Professor Kaplan has a very old school style of teaching so it was difficult for me to remain interested in her classes. I didn't learn anything from her lectures but had to go anyways because she takes attendance. I had to teach myself the material from the book but her Midterms and Finals were difficult since they were full out problems she contrived herself.
There's no doubt that she is very, very caring and looks out for her students. I just would not recommend taking her if you don't have the time to put into teaching the material to yourself.

Professor Kaplan is one of the most caring and genuine teachers here at Drexel. He definitely wants all students to understand basic accounting and to do well in her class.
Accounting overall is boring and will give you a headache while you are in class but we have to take it as busienss students.
Do the work and study for the exams and you will be fine.

Great teacher, really seriously absolutely cares about her students, gets upset if you don't do well. I went to see her a few times after class and then when I didn't go to one of her office hour study groups she called my cell phone and asked if I was okay and if I need any help. It was hilarious I had no idea how she got my number.

she knows about accounting, but is just not a teacher. no personality whatsoever and you cannot hear her unless you're in the first 2 rows. if you do take her, take advantage of her offer to meet with people one on one. that way you'll be able to actually hear her and it will make a lot more sense.

lets face it acct is very boring. The test that she gives are pretty fair. She also gives some extra credit and free points away now and then. Although i think the majority of my class did okay she must have given a curve in the end. I ended with a B and was happy about it. Trust me acct is boring and if your into it you wont do as well as you think. Just do the problems that she assigns and youll be fine. best of luck to everyone thinking about taking acct

I don't care what the other reviews say, she is the best professor I've had so far at Drexel. I was a little intimidated by accounting, but she explains everything really well and makes it all seem easy. I wish I could take her for all of my accounting classes.
Her homework assignments are not a lot of work and are always graded fairly. Just make sure you go to class everyday and you'll do fine.

Very knowledgable in accounting, but sometimes not the best at relating the material to students. She does care about her students, and is more than willing to wlk you through anything you might not understand. Not an easy course, but if you do the work and practice problems, an A is not out of reach.

Kaplan is a very smart woman and cares a lot and likes to know all her students by name. She takes a lot of time to explain the material, however her teaching style is not the best. She sometimes speaks quietly and does not do the best job of going thorough the material to make sure it is understood.

I dont know where all of you got the "shes the best teacher i have ever had" because i think she is the worst i have ever had. She seems very knowledgeable in accounting, but she doesnt belong in the classroom. Out of a 1000 points, 3/4 of the grade is tests. She doesnt take a hint when so many people fail. I would never take her again

Kaplan really is a great teacher and even though attendance is not required, I would recommend going. If you go to class and pay attention, its pretty hard to do poorly in this class. But don't slack off and think that its an easy A...I mean, come on...its a 5 credit accounting class, it isn't supposed to be easy. But Kaplan definately knows how to teach this material. I would retake her for any business class I have to take in a heartbeat!

Once again Professor Kaplan proved to me that she is one of the best professors on campus. This was not too difficult but she has a realistic viewpoint about accounting courses which is that most of what students will learn will be on the job. Therefore she doesn't try to cover everything in detail realizing that most students will probably forget a lot by the time they graduate and each company's approach to accounting is a bit different with the same results. Overall Jane Kaplan is one of the best accounting professors and offers excellent but realistic career advice as well.
