Grades out of 115
Cons: Hard to understand
Goes VERY QUICKLY through problems
Skips over parts (that he thinks are easily understood) when writing out problem on board
Does creepy thing with his eyebrows
I THINK he might curve final exam and/or grade (in addition to being out of 115)
Changes syllabus frequently
A lot of classtime is wasted by him rambling on
Jim Donnelly (aka THE party animal) knows math very well, despite the fact that he says otherwise. His problem lies in his ability to communicate and teach his knowledge. He makes many decisions based off of the fact that he thinks you know certain things already. He also changes his syllabus frequently: he went from collecting our homeworks on Mondays - to collecting our homeworks on Wednesdays - to not collecting our homeworks at all and just giving us quizzes based off the homework problems. He did all of that in the span of 2 weeks.
When doing problems on the board he will:
--go very fast (you will fall behind)
----talk out parts instead of writing them out (so if you are trying to catch up on writing everything down it seems like he pulls numbers out of nowhere)
--frequently skip parts he thinks you know (or talks them out [see above])
--mess up very often
----if you point out his mistake (he is very nice and understanding about it and he does truly appreciate it) but a lot of time will be wasted because he will retrace all of his steps to find out what you are talking about instead of just looking at the line you are referring to
Cons: He just did examples without explaining anything
The MATLAB projects were very hard. I needed help on all of them.
He pretty much didn't teach. And wasn't too helpful.
Do the homework sets, go to class, and put in a little extra, then you're guaranteed an A. He is a nice man. He wants you to do well. He has high expectations for Drexel's education of engineers and that really is a good thing for us.
Cons: 1. Doesn't like slowing down to explain theory (At least for this class). He's correct in the fact that he does not have enough time to teach the material that is required by the course.
2. Strict grader, doesn't give much partial credit.
I thought it was a good experience.
Cons: Everything
In his lectures he doesn't take his time to show his steps or the explanations of theorems, he moves too quickly to be understood and frequently makes errors. If you are poor/moderately good at this clac, don't take it. If you have already taken calc, still wouldn't recommend it. I took calc once before, but I had to retake because by the time I understood the material it was too late. He teaches extremely advanced calc. If you are engineering maybe that kind of math is necessary, but I'm not. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.
Cons: He's kind of ridiculous.
He knows how to teach math102. He gives plenty of examples, entertains questions, has extra help sections. But he is crazy! He says some really funny shit. I was tweet quoting him all class when I had him. I will say, He's kind of sexist because he's like 70 or something. But I guess if you're a dude, he's a great teacher.
Helpful lectures
FUCKING BOSS
Cons: Sometimes you wonder if he's taken all of his meds.
Jim is a fucking BOSS. I'll be the first to admit I suck at math yet his lectures are clear and to the point. He does make mistakes in his lectures every now and then but its not much more than other math professors. He cares about his students and wants everyone to do well. He can be a little out there and can get distracted easily but it makes the class more enjoyable. He likes to know his students and will call on you from time to time, but only to make sure you are understanding.

Funny
Does MANY examples
Cons: He's all over the place
It's clear that this guy has the hookups as he is most definitely smoking the good shit before class. He's easily distracted and in general all over the place which causes him to make frequent mistakes while doing the in-class examples. That said, he does genuinely care for his students and wants them to do well. He will help you in every way he can and will do any problem you ask. Do your homework and you will do well in his class. Would take again.
Always seemed excited, even when completely beat and tired, always managed to keep his spirits up no matter what.
I would retake Donnelly, but I wouldn't retake Differential Equations.
O.nly pretends to teach
N.ot a professor you want
N.aked men are what he wants
E.very test is a clusterfu*k
L.ooks like Alfred E. Newman
L.isten to your TA(to stand a chance)
Y.ou won't want to see another matrix
basically just stay away from this one, at first he seems like he'll be funny but then you realize he can't teach and you don't learn a thing (The TAs are the only ones with a clue). Tests are hard and if it wasn't for the analogous review packets you'd get smoked every time.
