Very helpful! She's thorough and ensures that every student gets it even if finance isn't your strongest subject. I hate finance but I made an A in the class and other students in our class did well from what I heard. And I had her in Maymester, which should've made it harder, so yea.
Take her. Don't take anyone else. Seriously.

Pros: She is very passionate about finance and you learning the information. If you don't get it she will work with you until you do.
The tests aren't that difficult and the homework is on connect and easy.
Cons: She talks too much about Alabama football.
She is kind of crazy.
She is a great teacher and makes sure you know the subject. She takes you to the computer lab at the end of the year and teaches you this stuff that no one understands how to do and you aren't tested on it. I ended up with an A and not that much studying. But if she teaches you how to do something one way, you better do it that way on the tests.

Pros: Dr. Garner is the best finance professor! Very enthusiastic about teaching.
Dr. Garner made sure everyone in the class knew the material before going to a new subject. She is willing to help every student & very friendly.

Pros: Teaches in an effective manner
Tests are fair
Makes sure you know the material
Very accommodating outside of class
Cons: Lectures can be boring
Tends to stay on topics too long
Easily put she is one of the best professors in the finance department. She teaches you exactly what you need to know going forward and does so in an efficient manner. Her lectures can be long and often times boring, but she does a lot of problems to help you practice and make the time go by faster. If you practice the homework over and over and make sure you learn a few conceptions you will be perfectly fine in the class.

Pros: Very nice lady! Exams were ok. An A is possible. Just read the book, do the problems and study. What more can I say... it's a finance class
Cons: Workload was average to heavy (sometimes)
Be sure to read the book if you are new to finance or if your finance is rusty.

Pros: Makes sure every student understands material.
Cons: Can be too hands on at times, and if one person has a question she assumes every student does, which can really slow some students down.
Great teacher. Tests are relatively easy and she grades very fairly.

Pros: Dr. Garner is very nice and enthusiastic. She posts her slides online and if you follow along in class the tests are easy. Some online homework but you get unlimited attempts. Plus she makes a study guide for each test. Take her.

Pros: Learned to avoid people from the south
Cons: Lady is repulsive. Do you like southern accents?
I did learn alot though - because I read the textbook and taught myself everything.
The lectures will make you dumber and remind you how tuition is extremely overpriced. Of course this southern idiot gives out random quizzes so you have to come to every "ayota" of a class.
Fire this retard. Phd from georgia state???? BS from what college?? Why the heck is she even allowed north passed the state of tennesee? Thanks Garner for helping contribute to bringing Drexel down the rankings and making everybody in your class dumber! Go BAMA!

There's no better one out there. She is very well prepared, makes herself available at all times for students, and actually answers emails (unlike so many other prof.). She even posts video lectures online in case you didn't understand something in class or you just weren't paying attention.
Attendance is a must because there are graded class break-outs based on what was taught. You will get lots of valuable practice that will help you cement the theory of it all.
Wish all my MBA professors were like her!

Dr. Garner is without a doubt one of the best professors at Drexel. Not only is she a awesome teacher, she actually knows what she is talking about and explains is VERY well. She was always more than willing to give additional time and help to students and provided a great deal of help for exams. Definitely take her if you're a Finance major! She is the best!

Dr Garner is an excellent professor. She really explains the material well. If you go and pay attention plus put a little effort in you will do fine.
She is very willing to explain concepts to students. She will even explain things to you right before the exam.
Exams were very fair and reflected the material covered in class. The questions were almost identical to those in the notes. The recitation problems also appeared on the test (with the numbers changed of course)
I would recommend her to anyone.

She was able to break down the material to make it as simple as possible which was great. Her tests contained exactly what she said they would and she put a lot of review material up on webct beforehand. No homework, you just had to attend recitation and do as assignment there each week. Lecture attendence was not required, but you'd be dumb not to go.

Not as great as cracked up to be. I can see how many people like her but I did not like her style. Always talked about things theoretically instead of just writing things down. Would always talk to the class as a whole, which is a personal pet peeve of mine, and would ask "everybody happy" and would ask it over and over until one person from the back row would yell yes, then she would move on. for some reason she wasn't satisfied that we understood the material when no one yelled yes, but when one annoyed kid from the back row yells yes, its ok to move on. Tests are a little more difficult than they should be. Also I wish she would have explained the reasoning behind things, instead of just talking about the "math".
Felt like i was in kindergarten with the way she spoke to us also.

They're wonderful, and cute too!!! I think they look younger than they really are. Anyway, I love the class and recitation. I learn a lot from them, from the way they present and organize the materials. This experience is a whole lot different from other classes I had so far. You have to take her for FIN301. Definitely!

Professor Garner and TA Anh Tran are just perfect professor-TA for FIN301 this quarter.
Dr. Garner is so nice and caring and she always makes sure you understand everything before moving on. The materials she posted on webct are extremely helpful. She also had a review session before one exam and the final. The exam was exactly what she wrote in the study guide map, so surprise at all. By the way, be aware that she always has multiple versions for each exam, so don't cheat!
Anh Tran is very clear in the recitation. His handouts are wonderful. He summarizes the lecture in a page and provides workspace for students to fill in for the practice problem. Usually these are the most important materials that will appear in the exam. I missed a class and was still able to follow after attending the recitation. He's also very nice, helpful, and easy going.
It's easy to get an A if you spend some time studying and attend all the recitations (even though only 5 count toward final grade).
One thing is that the new textbook was so expensive and I didn't really use it. Maybe because the lecture materials and recitation handouts have everything I need.
Thank you for the great experience!!!

Too be honest, I think she's a bit overrated based on these reviews. She does care for students definitely but the FIN 301 class she teaches is no fun for non-Finance majors and the tests are all problem-based. Not very easy or very hard, I got a B as it seems most people did.

book is not really necessary but it can help if you need a ref. midterm and final are straight forward and easy if you understand the material. approx 5 hws and 6-7 rec assignments...all easy if you understand the material. if you do well on the hws and rec assignments your grade will be locked in by the final exam.
the material covered is not hard to follow because the teacher take a lot of time and care to make sure all the students understand. recitation is used to again go over the material and questions can be asked.
In a nutshell this is a very basic and easy to mange intro to finance.

Dr. Garner cares very much about her students - some might say a little too much. She will make sure every last person understands what is going on before she moves on. This is important in Finance 301, since the later chapters build on the first couple of lectures.
Tests are extremely reasonable, HW's are easy, and you can learn in recitation what you missed in lecture.

LET ME TELL YOU WHAT i HAVE EXPERIENCED TAKING HER. SHE IS PROBABLY ONE OF THE BEST TEACHERS THAT DREXEL COULD EVER HAVE. SHE WANTS HER STUDENTS TO UNDERSTAND COMPLETELY AND THOROUGHLY BEFOR MOVING ON. 2 MOST COMMON PHRASES FROM HER: IS EVERYBODY HAPPY? YES, NO, MAYBE? HER EXAMS ARE NOT TOO HARD IF YOU UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPTS. SHE CURVES WHEN SHE NEEDS TO. SHE THROWS IN EXTRA CREDIT DURING CLASS, SO ATTENDANCE IS A MUST!! ESPECIALLY IF YOU SCREWED UP THE FIRST MIDTERM. DO THE HW, DO WELL ON THE QUIZZES AND THERE IS NO WAY YOU COULD END UP LESS THAN A or B, unless you are a dumbass

Seriously probably one of the best teachers I have ever taken at this school. I mean she really cares about students. I must have gotten an email from her every day about anything happening in the classroom. The tests are not easy but there are SO MANY chances to improve your grade in this class that it seems alomost impossible not to get an 'A'. You don't really need the text book, but yet it would not hurt when it came down to studying for the midterms. She has some shortcomings such as not making class overly interesting, running the class over the clock, and giving alot of pop quizes but it really does not matter. You would be silly to think she is not a great professor and a great person.
