Take her. Don't take anyone else. Seriously.
The tests aren't that difficult and the homework is on connect and easy.
Cons: She talks too much about Alabama football.
She is kind of crazy.
She is a great teacher and makes sure you know the subject. She takes you to the computer lab at the end of the year and teaches you this stuff that no one understands how to do and you aren't tested on it. I ended up with an A and not that much studying. But if she teaches you how to do something one way, you better do it that way on the tests.
Dr. Garner made sure everyone in the class knew the material before going to a new subject. She is willing to help every student & very friendly.
Tests are fair
Makes sure you know the material
Very accommodating outside of class
Cons: Lectures can be boring
Tends to stay on topics too long
Easily put she is one of the best professors in the finance department. She teaches you exactly what you need to know going forward and does so in an efficient manner. Her lectures can be long and often times boring, but she does a lot of problems to help you practice and make the time go by faster. If you practice the homework over and over and make sure you learn a few conceptions you will be perfectly fine in the class.
Cons: Workload was average to heavy (sometimes)
Be sure to read the book if you are new to finance or if your finance is rusty.
Cons: Can be too hands on at times, and if one person has a question she assumes every student does, which can really slow some students down.
Great teacher. Tests are relatively easy and she grades very fairly.
Dr. Garner is very nice and enthusiastic. She posts her slides online and if you follow along in class the tests are easy. Some online homework but you get unlimited attempts. Plus she makes a study guide for each test. Take her.
Cons: Lady is repulsive. Do you like southern accents?
I did learn alot though - because I read the textbook and taught myself everything.
The lectures will make you dumber and remind you how tuition is extremely overpriced. Of course this southern idiot gives out random quizzes so you have to come to every "ayota" of a class.
Fire this retard. Phd from georgia state???? BS from what college?? Why the heck is she even allowed north passed the state of tennesee? Thanks Garner for helping contribute to bringing Drexel down the rankings and making everybody in your class dumber! Go BAMA!
Attendance is a must because there are graded class break-outs based on what was taught. You will get lots of valuable practice that will help you cement the theory of it all.
Wish all my MBA professors were like her!
She is very willing to explain concepts to students. She will even explain things to you right before the exam.
Exams were very fair and reflected the material covered in class. The questions were almost identical to those in the notes. The recitation problems also appeared on the test (with the numbers changed of course)
I would recommend her to anyone.
Felt like i was in kindergarten with the way she spoke to us also.
Dr. Garner is so nice and caring and she always makes sure you understand everything before moving on. The materials she posted on webct are extremely helpful. She also had a review session before one exam and the final. The exam was exactly what she wrote in the study guide map, so surprise at all. By the way, be aware that she always has multiple versions for each exam, so don't cheat!
Anh Tran is very clear in the recitation. His handouts are wonderful. He summarizes the lecture in a page and provides workspace for students to fill in for the practice problem. Usually these are the most important materials that will appear in the exam. I missed a class and was still able to follow after attending the recitation. He's also very nice, helpful, and easy going.
It's easy to get an A if you spend some time studying and attend all the recitations (even though only 5 count toward final grade).
One thing is that the new textbook was so expensive and I didn't really use it. Maybe because the lecture materials and recitation handouts have everything I need.
Thank you for the great experience!!!
the material covered is not hard to follow because the teacher take a lot of time and care to make sure all the students understand. recitation is used to again go over the material and questions can be asked.
In a nutshell this is a very basic and easy to mange intro to finance.
Tests are extremely reasonable, HW's are easy, and you can learn in recitation what you missed in lecture.
