 Pros: -Knowledgeable
-Very funny
Cons: -He's an asshole, no other way to put it (not in a funny way either, he's a true dick and awful human being)
-Says he will fail you if you miss any classes during the last three weeks of classes which is ridiculous
He thinks just because he has created some stuff over in Hollywood that he is hot shit. He demands that everyone call him professor and is really really rude and mean to his students. Yeah he is funny and knows his stuff, but that doesn't give him the right to act like he was WAY above us. Like, news flash dude, there are people out there who are way more famous than you and aren't dicks!
Anyway, his classes were semi-interesting though. He is really funny and the films we watched were pretty damn good, it just doesn't excuse him from being a dick. And he makes his quizes very tough and his exams were also quite difficult (Midterm was fair but the final was 105 questions and very difficult, a bit unfairly difficult)
If this guy had a more positive attitude and showed that he actually cared for his students, then I would say to take him cause he is incredibly smart and also really funny, but his high levels of negativity and pretentiousness is influencing me to say never take this teacher. Never. He needs a long needed wake up call and needs to realize that he isn't perfect.

 Abrams is a sarcastically funny man, and if you have never had the pleasure of taking one of his courses you are doing yourself an injustice. This class was a nice treat in the middle of a heavy class load, and the films that Abrams selected were very funny.

 I took the Honors Class on Nuclear Apocalypse (not the one on "The Wire" to be clear) and I have to say that I really enjoyed the course and learned a lot from it. Abrams was very well-prepared for class and it was well-structured and very interesting. I could see him coming across as offensive and intimidating to some people (though I didn't really feel this way) and I can't speak for him outside of this particular class, but I really enjoyed it. Really cool experience. Do the reading even though it may seem like a lot!

i had him for sherlock holmes and he gives you a B for showing up and A for impressing him.... i guess i didn't say anything impressive because I got a 100 on every quiz and participated occasionally, but still got a B+ in the class

He's a fantastic professor and extremely entertaining. Just don't do anything to get on his bad side.

 Professor Abrams is one of the best instructors I've ever had. Many people complain about his brutal honesty, but I enjoyed it. If we are serious about becoming successful in Hollywood, we need to have a thick skin. Professor Abrams' harsh criticisms were nothing compared to what we will potentially be exposed to in the business. He did everything in his power to prepare us to the harsh realities of the entertainment industry, and I thank him for that. I will always remember his class, and his crazy style of teaching. I HIGHLY recommend taking Professor Abrams for Screenwriting 1.

 i've had a lot of teachers who were great without being completely rude. i understand thats how he makes you work harder but if your going to say that much bad stuff about a script then try and find at least one nice thing to say. and i don't understand how he factors in the quality of your story into your grade. what if your just a terrible story teller but great with grammar and format?

 He's a teacher that can really make you get into the content of the course. He's always willing to talk to you outside of class, and he just wants to help. I should say that he does treat guys differently from girls, and that if you are a girl, wear frumpy clothes to his class to prevent him from staring.

 This man is awesome. He is funny and a bit bitter, but good. If you're looking for a class where you can dick around he isn't the man for you. If people think he is tough they haven't seen anything.
