Cons: bad grader.
If you are international student, please do not take her class
-Reasonable expectations
-Conversation/Lecture based
-Clear guidelines for exam content and writing assignments⦠there are no curve balls.
-Friendly professor, very personable
I am a non-major and in the classes I've had with Dr. Ibieta, I never observed any favoritism towards English majors.
Cons: These aren't really cons, but: Dr. Ibieta is pretty straight forward about her expectations. She's an academic, tenured professor and she can recognize students who don't pay attention in class and don't do the readings. On the upside, the readings are actually pretty interesting and if you participate you get a lot out of the class.
Not often, but I have seen her randomly call on students when they haven't participated in any of the past few classes. This class will be better (and easier) if you read ahead of time.
Dr. Ibieta is a wonderful professor. I highly recommend her for anyone interested in learning a new topic and willing to do their part. You will not be disappointed or 'screwed over' as another reviewer had said. I've taken 2 courses with Dr. Ibieta, all of very different subject matter, and I am confident that if you are a conscientious student who does their work and puts in a reasonable amount of effort you will be treated very fairly.
Note: These reviews apply to Literature of Exile and Carribean Literature
Cons: Lots of required reading, but is realistic about due dates and expectations. Most of the required reading was interesting to read and easy to get through
Cons: Sometimes her responses come off in a smart way but it's nothing you can't just slide off.
Cons: These girls are definitely not interested in you.
Don't take this class if you aren't an english major. BECAUSE THIS professor will try to screw you over.
Cons: Massive amounts of reading... but it was always interesting reading.
I actually took the Kafka class but that class isn't listed for this Professor. It was one of my three favorite classes at Drexel.
Cons: I can't really think of anything
Professor Ibieta is a nice lady -- she has always been polite and helpful whenever I asked her for any help or advice, and her class was pretty interesting.
i got an A+ without much effort aside from reading the material, and knowing what she wanted out of the essays and in class assignments she gives.
don't take the class if you're looking for an easy A. take thorpe's online class if you want that
