Pros: Explains everything very well. Has great intentions. Makes sure everyone has a chance to ask questions, and sets up all the tutoring and test prep resources.
No HW, quizzes, or unexpected assignments. He made a scrolled book, which will save you on tests. $20--- buy it!!!
Cons: Tests almost every other week. Many types of topics, which start to feel too similar to differentiate in the heat of a test. Huge lecture.... many students asking about advanced info.
He is a jokester. Wants everyone to learn. Available, all the time. But..... he's short-fused. Passion translates to frustration when questions are about old things we should know from week 1.
Drops the lowest of 4 tests. DO NOT blow off the first or second test. Grades improve with each test, and the 4th is the hardest IMO. You will want the first two to back up your grade. There's a cumulative curve, but not significant. A bump from B+ to A-.

Pros: Straightforward grading.
Puts in a great deal of effort to make sure you understand the material.
No need to buy the book.
Cons: Hard exams but they're open book.
Missing 1 class with cause you to miss like a third of the exams questions.
Hands down the best professor I've taken at Drexel. Took finance 2 other times with different professors who taught out of the book at frankly didn't care if you learned or not. When you ask a question sometimes he puts you on the spot but he will give a 10 minute lecture just to make sure you personally understand the material. Going to class is a must! He teaches everything out of his handbook and goes over the material in great detail. If you go to class, it makes studying so much easier. TAKE HIM NOW!

Pros: Open Notes Test
Grade only based off 4 exams
Cons: Confusing formulas
Lowest exam is dropped
This professor is great & has his students' best interests in mind. He is easy to approach, and very understanding. The only problem is that your grade is based only off 4 exams. Just make sure to go office hours, especially with the TA. Luckily, the tests were open notes, so it wasn't too bad.

Pros: 2 Tests - 60/30 Ratio + 10% for Attendance
Weighs according to best ratio
No quizzes, homework, etc.
Knows his stuff, funny guy
Cons: Exams WILL take you the 4 hours
Formulas can get confusing
Professor Fich was an amazing professor. At first, I thought the 4 hour class would be tiresome, but I'm glad I took it because he made the time go by quite quickly. He constantly makes jokes in class, real life stories (some made up), and is an overall great guy. He knows his content, and tries to really make sure his students understand it. His grading policy is great, and you are graded according to what ratio (test-wise) will get you the better overall average. Great class. Oh, grades are curved too. 86 for an A (example)

Pros: GREAT professor!!!!!! He is funny and he made the concepts easy to understand. I'm in one of his 4 hours class and he uses ALL 4 hours, but he makes it easy to forget about the times.
Cons: Repeat a couple phrase a lot, but it's nothing too bad.
Homework: None, but there are practice problems for your own good.
Quizzes: None.
Exams: 2 (1 midterm, 1 final). The problems are similar to the problems he have during lectures. You can bring everything and anything you want to the exam. Including textbook, notebook, his class note package (it's his lecture slides, highly recommend to buy, it's like $20), calculator manual, things you print from online, etc.
Grading: 60% for the exam with higher score, 40% for the other exam.
NO MAKE UP EXAMS!!!

You have 3 exams and they're all open book. Buy the $15 lecture notes - very useful during the exam. You will need a financial calculator (TI or HP) especially for bond calculations. The exams are heavily curved. The second exam was 84 or higher for an A. On top of that, he optimally weights your final grade so you can achieve the highest grade. You can probably get at least a B+ with minimal effort. Fich also makes random jokes and tells somewhat relevant stories.

Pros: Makes class interesting. Really funny guy. Makes sure students understand concepts.
Cons: Requires you to buy class notes
One of my favorite professors. Class notes are required and cost about $15, but they come in handy for tests (which are open book and notes) and for future reference if you a a finance major. Definitely recommend him and would take again.

I love him. He is my favorite drexel professor. He is funny, gives tons of examples, he makes class interesting. The tests mimic his lecture examples exactly. He gives you every opportunity to succeed. If you pay attention in class and copy his notes, you don't need to do much else to get a good grade. I want to take every single class he teaches.

if you like to laugh, this guy is gold. i will not remember any finance concepts from this class- i'll only remember laughing. one time in class he wanted to show us a picture of freddy mercury to prove how gay he was- every person in class laughed very loudly. he likes to talk about his weight problem and his wife, he's not just the man, he is a god.

Good professor who really cares about the students. If a student is making the effort, he will go out of his way to make sure you understand the material. Attendance in classes isn't mandatory but he notices who is there. 3 "quizzes" and a final exam. Quizzes are basically like exams. Final exam is cumulative but it's open book/notes so it wasn't too bad. Curves so much on tests, most people end up with good grades.

He's a funny guy who really cares about your understanding the material. There are three exams and a final. He drops the lowest exam and figures out your grade weighing the exams or final more and whichever is better he uses. The material is a little difficult to grasp, but he does a lot of practice problems and is willing to walk you through something multiple times if you need it. The exams are all open note and open book - you can bring anything you want to bring.
My only complaint if you have to buy a set of notes for $13 from the book store. They are just slides, but he doesn't post them online (which would be cheaper). You'd be lost in this class without the notes though. They are definitely necessary.

He gets an A+ for style and personality. You will forever have "my dear and beloved finance majors" etched into your brain. He definitely cares about his students doing well. I didn't do as well as I wanted to in his class but I'm finding that there is residual finance knowledge that kicks in, after taking his class. I think if I had put more effort into it I could've done better. His exams were not that hard but better homework problems would've made studying easier. I also found the solutions manual for the book very helpful in learning some of the concepts he stressed. He really puts you to work in class with problem solving. I was tired going in after work for the 6pm class. And by 9pm I could barely think straight enough to walk to my car. Still, I think of him fondly. "Can you smell it? Can you taste it?"

"My dear and beloved Finance majors"..that is the most famous line that you will hear from this guy. He actually knows his stuff and suggest that you try to find a job in structured finance since they start out paying almost 90 grand a year. His test are a little tricky I thought but he curves so even if you don't do the greatest you can pull out a decent grade. Oh and he loves the Miami Dolphins and the Sixers

There are so many reasons to like Fich. He gives 3 quizes, which are really midterms, and lets you drop one, and after you take the final he weighs your average of the midterms and final to help you the best. Oh by the way, his tests are open book and notes. He is also a funny guy and pokes fun at himself, though by the end of the term this gets repetative and annoying. Some points however, his lectures and powerpoint slides are not a big help for the tests. You NEED the book if you want to do well and unfortunately lecture does not help much. However, you still learn about corporate finance in his lecture regardless. He can get boring at times and seems to make class longer than it really has to be by wasting time w/ class problems when he can just do them on his own. Sometimes to when there are 5 minutes left in class he will start a new topic instead of just letting us leave early. At this point the class is tired and usually forgets everything he says. Again he's a very likeable teacher, he gives you know reason to complain about grading, and you do learn. In my opinion he just has to work on a few things about his style of teaching.

This is probably the best teacher I've had at Drexel. He's funny as hell. His random comments had the class rollin. But he makes you learn the stuff, which is good. gave me a great stepping stone for Finance. His exams are open book/open notes (solutions manual included), and he curves like a mother. What more could you ask for?! Go to class, and you'll get an A, cuz his notes are clutch!

Overall, he could have been a better professor...
He was well prepared and he knew his stuff... But his teaching method of giving you the formulas, and then giving you a bunch of problems kind of made it a dumb class. You really don't learn from that- you just learn how to plug and chug and pray that the question is formed the same way on the exams.
Oh, and his midterms are worth 40% of your grade, and the final 50-70% (weighing out the midterms)... If you don't buy his homework packet, you can kiss any passing grade goodbye (if you're not godly with finance like most of us).
He doesn't really care if you pass the course... But then again, which professors at Drexel really do? The material is hard, and his method requires that you go an extra bit to really understand it. The curves on the exams of 76% signify that a few students really didn't get it at all.
He is an easy professor if you stick to his notes and study the homework outside of class.

In response to the person who said if you don't buy his solution's manual you will not pass the class.
This is not true at all. I did not buy his book or his soln manual. For $9.00 you buy his power point handouts with sample problems. That is all I bought for his class and got a 91% on the second midterm and a 90% on the first. I am not a finance wiz(if you know how to add, divide, and multiply) you know enough math to get at least a B in his class. His class has little math you only need to understand when to use concepts.
Great teacher, hope he starts teaching upper level finance. He is caring and MORE than understanding (i.e, if you got above a 77% on the second midterm you got an A..pretty fair)

This guy was an amazing teacher...he'll go to any length to help you out and makes class incredibly fun. Some of the information is boring but he really makes you want to come to class. There's no homework in the class and there are open book, open note exams...but the thing is that despite that you actually learn the information...he's a really good teacher
