TAKE ANY CLASS THIS WOMAN TEACHES!!!! Bucking the Drexel trend, Dr. Powers is amazing! We learned a lot, she involved the class (Participation was extra credit, but not absolutely required), kept things interesting and was HILARIOUS!!! She has such a bubbly personality, I thought she was a student at first! But with that she also knows her stuff, and gives a lot of insight into the industry!!! There were a lot of essays, but if you do them early, and make an appointment, she will review it and give you feedback. I learned so much, and I really looked forward to this class everyday.

Nice teacher, but horrible grader. Unless youre a Communication major, stay away from this class. Three 4-5 page papers and a midterm. Demands a lot from each paper, feels like a 300 course level. Never taking another communication class because of her.

I thought her class was really interesting. You need to work hard on the essays and study, but if you do the readings and go to class you should be able to get an easy A. Also she is really enthusiastic when she teaches. I never fell asleep in her class. She is always available to help. Overall she is one of my favorite teachers and I would love to take her again. :-)

Very few time can you actually describe a professor as totally cool. Devon powers in Mass Media in society is one of those exceptions. She brings a background in music journalism which means that she's really in the know with indie bands, and she's actually met a lot of pretty famous musicians. She also has an insanely detailed knowledge of pop culture that means that her lectures are sprinkled with random trivia that kind of spices the discussion up.
Her papers were hard, but very interesting because she allows you to choose your own topics to write on. She also personally comments in the margins of papers when she grades them, which is a nice touch.
Even though this class was early in the morning, it wasn't too hard to wake up for. Yeah it's a lot of notes, and a good deal of writing, but it's notes and papers about music, movies, and tv, which makes it endlessly interesting.
